It was announced by Apple on May 7, 2024, with pre-orders starting the same day, and was released on May 15, 2024. [1] It succeeds the iPad Air (5th generation) and is available in four colors: Blue, Purple, Space Gray, and Starlight. The sixth-generation iPad Air models use the Apple M2 SoC, with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of onboard flash storage, but storage can be upgraded to 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB, respectively, for an additional fee. [2] [3] [4] [5] [7] The M2 chip has 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores. [8]
They also use a Liquid Retina Display with 500 nits of brightness and a P3 color space, but the 11 inch model has a 2360 by 1440 display, whereas the 13 inch model has 2372 by 2048 display. Both models also support Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C). In addition, they also have a 12 MP front and back camera with Smart HDR 4 and up to 63 MP panorama photos.
