Isabelle Rae Scane is an American lacrosse player who competed for the Northwestern Wildcats. She won the 2023 NCAA championship with Northwestern and twice received the Tewaaraton Award as the best player in the country. She broke the all-time NCAA Division I goals record in 2024.
Scane was raised in Clarkston, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Patricia Scane, and has three brothers. [1] [2] Her parents met at Grand Valley State University, where her father wrestled and her mother ran track. [1] [3] She started playing lacrosse in sixth grade after previously competing in gymnastics. [3] She played club lacrosse for the Detroit Lacrosse Club and then Boston-based Mass Elite. [3] She captained the varsity team at Cranbrook Kingswood, winning two state championships, and set the Michigan all-time high school points record, twice receiving All-American recognition. [1]
Scane started out in 2019 as a defender for the Northwestern Wildcats but was converted to attack after seven games. [4] She was second on the team with 62 goals and 80 points, receiving Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year honors. [1] [4] She was leading the team in goals as a sophomore when the season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [2] As a junior in 2021, she led the nation with 98 goals, receiving Big Ten Attacker of the Year and first-team All-American honors. [1] [3] She was named one of the five Tewaaraton finalists and broke the NCAA single-season record for goals per game, averaging 6.12 goals per game over Northwestern's 16-game season. [5] She missed the 2022 season after tearing her right ACL, meniscus, and LCL during a scrimmage in November 2021. [6] [7]
Scane led the nation with 99 goals when she returned and recorded a career-high 35 assists, receiving the Tewaaraton Award and the Honda Sports Award as the country's best college lacrosse player. [1] [8] She led Northwestern to their first NCAA championship since 2012, becoming the most valuable player of the 2023 NCAA tournament. [8] [9] During her final season in 2024, she passed Hannah Nielsen's program career points record of 398 and broke Charlotte North's NCAA Division I career goals record of 358. [10] [11] Scane ended the 2024 season with 88 goals, leading the nation, while also adding 21 assists. After the season, she once again won the Tewaaraton Award, making her the 6th women's player to ever win the award back-to-back. Over her six-year NCAA career, Scane finished with 376 goals and 483 points in 84 games. [12]
Scane tried out for the United States national under-19 team in 2018 but was cut by her future Northwestern coach Kelly Amonte Hiller. [2] [4] Following her freshman season, she was called up to play at the Under-19 World Lacrosse Championships in 2019, scoring three goals to help beat Canada in the final and being named player of the match. [13] She led the team with 21 goals (tied with Caitlyn Wurzburger) and was one of five Americans named to the All-World team. [13]
Michael Powell is a former American professional lacrosse player who was a four-time First Team All-American at Syracuse University, played professional lacrosse for the Baltimore Bayhawks and Boston Cannons, and played on the United States team in the 2002 and 2006 World Lacrosse Championships where he was named to the All-World Team. He is the youngest of the three lacrosse-playing Powell brothers.

Kyle Harrison is an American entrepreneur and retired professional lacrosse player. He now serves as the PLL Director of Player Relations and Diversity Inclusion. He had a seventeen year career in professional field lacrosse, and played for the US national lacrosse team twice. As a college lacrosse player at Johns Hopkins University, he played at the two-way midfield position and also took face-offs. He was a team captain on the 2005 team that went undefeated (16-0) to win the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship. The same year, he won the Tewaaraton Men's Player of the Year Award. As a professional lacrosse player, he was a 9-time all-star, 12-time team captain, and won the 2017 championship.
Jen Adams is the head women's lacrosse coach at Loyola University Maryland and was an All-American lacrosse player at the University of Maryland from 1998 to 2001, leading the Terrapins to national titles for four straight years, including a perfect 21 and 0 record in 1999, as well as a perfect 23 and 0 record in 2001. Maryland under coach Cindy Timchal won seven national titles in a row from 1995 through 2001. The Maryland lacrosse team has more Women's Division I lacrosse titles (14) than any other program. In the 2000 NCAA Lacrosse championship game, Adams scored five goals and had five assists, all in the second half, to turn a close game into a 16–8 victory over Princeton. While at Maryland, Adams was the first ever recipient of the Honda Award for women's lacrosse, awarded to the top player in a Division I school.
Amanda Moore O'Leary, née Amanda Moore and also known by her nickname Mandee O'Leary, is an American college lacrosse coach and former player. O'Leary was an All-American lacrosse midfielder for the Temple Owls women's lacrosse team of Temple University, and she is a member of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame. O'Leary was the head coach of the Yale Bulldogs women's lacrosse team of Yale University, and she is now the head coach of the Florida Gators women's lacrosse team of the University of Florida.
The Northwestern Wildcats women's lacrosse team is an NCAA Division I college lacrosse team representing Northwestern University as part of the Big Ten Conference. It was a member of the American Lacrosse Conference until the 2013-14 season, when the conference was dissolved as the Big Ten was sponsoring women's lacrosse from the 2014-15 season. The team began competition at the varsity level in 1982, operated as a club sport from 1993 to 2001, and resumed play at the varsity level in 2002. They play their home games at Lanny & Sharon Martin Stadium and Ryan Fieldhouse in Evanston, IL. From 2005 to 2009, the team won the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship five consecutive times and recorded two undefeated seasons. After losing in the finals in 2010, the Wildcats added their sixth and seventh championships in 2011 and 2012. The Wildcats won their eighth championship in 2023. The Midwestern team's success is a rarity in a sport that enjoys most of its popularity on the East Coast - the Wildcats are the only team from outside the Eastern Time Zone to win the national title.
Kristen Kjellman is an American women's lacrosse player. She played for the Northwestern Wildcats and the USA World Cup Team.
Rob Pannell is an American professional lacrosse player who plays for Redwoods Lacrosse Club and formerly for Cornell University. He is the fourth leading scorer in men's Division I history, and holds the Cornell and Ivy League all-time scoring records. He was the Ivy League's first ever three-time Player of the Year award winner. He was voted the NCAA's Outstanding Player of the Year in Men's Lacrosse in both 2011 and 2013 when he was awarded the Lt. Raymond Enners Award by the USILA. He won the 2013 Tewaaraton Trophy, the most outstanding American college lacrosse player.
Steele Stanwick is an American former professional lacrosse player who played for the Ohio Machine and Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse. He played his NCAA Division I career at the University of Virginia. He won the Tewaaraton Trophy and the Jack Turnbull Award.
Hannah Nielsen is the current head coach of the University of Michigan women’s lacrosse team. She was formerly the first women's lacrosse assistant coach at the University of Colorado. Originally from the Brighton Lacrosse Club in Adelaide, Nielsen played for the Northwestern University Wildcats, and won four national championships as a player. She was a three-time All-American, and is a winner of both the Tewaaraton Trophy and Honda Sports Award in her junior and senior seasons. She holds NCAA records for career assists, assists in a season, and assists in single game.
The North Carolina Tar Heels women's lacrosse team represents the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I women's lacrosse and currently competes as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The North Carolina women's lacrosse team won the ACC tournament in 2002 and their first Division 1 national championship in 2013.
Taylor Thornton is an NCAA women's lacrosse player who won the Honda Sports Award in June 2012 and was nominated for the Sports Illustrated College Athlete of the Year Award in 2013. She is an alum of Northwestern University who played for the Northwestern Wildcats.
Taylor Cummings is a lacrosse midfielder, formerly for the University of Maryland's women's lacrosse team. Winning the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2014, 2015, and 2016, Cummings was once regarded as the best female collegiate lacrosse player in the country. She helped the Maryland Terrapins win two National Championships in 2014 and in 2015.
Katie Schwarzmann is an American women’s lacrosse player. Having played with the Maryland Terrapins at the collegiate level, she was a two-time winner of the Tewaaraton Trophy. She was also a member of the US national team from 2010 to 2013. In 2016, she was selected first overall in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League draft, selected by the Baltimore Ride.
Michelle Tumolo is an American women's lacrosse coach and former player. She has been the Head Coach of the Army Black Knights women's lacrosse team since 2021. After playing with the Syracuse Orange women's lacrosse at the collegiate level, she was named to the US national team for the 2015–16 season. In 2016, she was selected by the Philly Force as their first-ever draft pick in the inaugural United Women's Lacrosse League Draft.
Kayla Treanor is an American women’s lacrosse coach for the Syracuse University Women's Lacrosse team. Prior to this position, she was an assistant coach for Harvard and Boston College.
Shannon Elizabeth Smith is an American lacrosse coach and former player. Smith concluded her collegiate career at Northwestern University as their all-time leading goal scorer with 254, three-time IWLCA first-team All-American, three-time All-ALC first-team choice, and a two-time MVP of the NCAA Championship.
Kylie Ohlmiller is an American professional women's lacrosse player for Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse. She played collegiately at Stony Brook University, where she set the record for most career points in Division I history with 498 and most career assists with 246.
Patrick Andrew Spencer is an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Northwestern Wildcats and is also a former college lacrosse player for the Loyola Greyhounds.
Caitlyn Molly Wurzburger is an American lacrosse player. She became the country's all-time top scorer in high school at the American Heritage School in Delray Beach, Florida, and was the top-ranked recruit of the class of 2020. She played college lacrosse for the North Carolina Tar Heels, where she won the 2022 NCAA tournament. She represented the United States national team at the 2022 World Games.
