The United States attorney for the Districts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands is responsible for representing the federal government in civil and criminal litigation before the United States territorial courts of the District Court of Guam, whose jurisdiction is the Territory of Guam, and the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands, whose jurisdiction is the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), encompassing the main islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota as well as the mostly uninhabited "Northern Islands" of the Commonwealth.

She was previously Attorney General of Guam, serving from January 3, 2007, to June 21, 2010. Limtiaco also ran as a candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Guam in the 2018 gubernatorial election as the running mate of senator Frank Aguon Jr, in the Democratic gubernatorial primaries.

Guam was the first overseas territory of the United States to recognize same-sex marriage. On August 27, 2015, the Guam Marriage Equality Act of 2015 passed by the Guam Legislature came into effect, officially incorporating the federal court ruling into statutory law.

In January 2009, the website D.C.'s Political Report predicted that the Republican Party would retain the governorship. Republican Eddie Calvo won the election.
Francis Lester "Scotty" Moylan was a Guamanian businessman and patriarch of the Moylan family, which includes his son, former Lieutenant Governor Kurt Moylan, his nephew, U.S. House delegate James Moylan, and his grandsons, former Lt. Governor Kaleo Moylan and Guam's first elected attorney general, Douglas Moylan. He was the founder of Moylan Enterprises and became one of Guam's leading businessmen after moving to the island in 1946. In addition to his many business ventures, Moylan opened the first A&W Restaurants franchise in Guam and introduced the first Volkswagens to the island in the 1960s.
Frank Blas Aguon Jr. is a Guamanian politician and army lieutenant. A Democrat, he served in the Legislature of Guam from 1997 to 2007, 2009 to 2011 and from 2013 to 2019. He is a former Vice-Speaker from 2003 to 2005.
John Weisenberger is a Guamanian politician and former attorney general of Guam from 2010 to 2011. He was also the public guardian of Guam.

Robert Ruecho is a Micronesian politician and diplomat. Ruecho served as the Governor of Yap, one of the four states which make up the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), from 2003 to 2007. He became the Consul-General for FSM on neighboring Guam on October 17, 2011.
Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson is a Guamanian lawyer, judge, and moderate Republican politician. She served as the Attorney General of Guam, a U.S. territory, from 1987 to 1994 and again from 2015 to 2019. She is the longest-serving attorney general in Guamanian history and was the first woman to serve as attorney general.
Ralph Deleon Guerrero Torres is a Northern Marianan politician, who served as the ninth governor of the Northern Mariana Islands, from December 29, 2015, to January 9, 2023. He is a Republican from Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). The third longest-serving governor in CNMI history, Torres took office upon the death of Governor Eloy Inos on December 29, 2015, before being reelected as governor in his own right in 2018. He previously served as the tenth lieutenant governor, having been elected to that post in 2014.
A general election was held in Guam on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Voters in Guam chose their governor, their non-voting delegate to the United States House of Representatives, attorney general, public auditor, as well as all fifteen members of the territorial legislature. The election coincides with the United States mid-term elections.

Leevin Taitano Camacho is a Chamorro lawyer who served as attorney general of Guam. He was elected on November 6, 2018, defeating former attorney general Douglas Moylan with 67% of the vote. Inaugurated on January 7, 2019, Camacho succeeded Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson to become Guam's fifth elected AG.
The 2022 Northern Mariana gubernatorial election took place on November 8, 2022 to elect the governor of the Northern Mariana Islands and the lieutenant governor of the Northern Mariana Islands to a four-year term in office. Because no candidate received 50% of the vote in the general election, the two highest-placing candidates advanced to a runoff election on November 25, 2022.
