The Cleveland Elementary School shooting occurred on January 17, 1989, at Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California, United States, when 24-year-old Patrick Purdy, who had an extended criminal history, shot and killed five students and wounded 32 others. As first responders arrived at the scene, Purdy committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. His victims were predominantly Southeast Asian refugees.
The Crandon shooting was a mass murder that occurred about 2:45 a.m. CDT on October 7, 2007, at a post-homecoming party inside a duplex in Crandon, Wisconsin, United States. The perpetrator, 20-year-old Tyler James Peterson, who was a full-time deputy in the Forest County Sheriff's Department and a part-time officer with the Crandon Police Department, shot and killed six people and critically injured a seventh before committing suicide. One of the victims, 18-year-old Jordanne Michele Murray, was Peterson's former girlfriend, and it was believed that a dispute within the apartment motivated the shooting.

A series of uncoordinated mass stabbings, hammer attacks, and cleaver attacks in the People's Republic of China began in March 2010. The spate of attacks left at least 90 dead and some 473 injured. As most cases had no known motive, analysts have blamed mental health problems caused by rapid social change for the rise in these kinds of mass murder and murder-suicide incidents.
The Hebei tractor rampage was an apparently spontaneous mass murder rampage in August 2010 in which 17 people were killed in Yuanshi County, Hebei, China by an intoxicated man driving a bucket loader. At least 20 others were wounded in the attack.
A mass shooting is a violent crime in which one or more attackers kill or injure multiple individuals simultaneously using a firearm. There is no widely accepted definition of "mass shooting" and different organizations tracking such incidents use different definitions. Definitions of mass shootings exclude warfare and sometimes exclude instances of gang violence, armed robberies, familicides and terrorism. The perpetrator of an ongoing mass shooting may be referred to as an active shooter.
On June 28, 2018, in the Xuhui District of Shanghai, China, three boys and a female parent were stabbed with a knife near the gate of the West Campus of the Shanghai World Foreign Language Primary School at Pubei Road, Shanghai. Two boys who attended died, and another student and parent were injured. The suspect, Huang Yichuan, was arrested by the Procuratorate the next day.
On 11 January 2023, the driver of a black BMW X3 deliberately rammed his vehicle into a crowd of pedestrians and motorists on Tianhe Road in Guangzhou, China, killing six people and injuring 29 others. 22-year-old Wen Qingyun was arrested in connection to the attack, sentenced to death, and subsequently executed on 19 April 2024.
