Kuwait, officially the State of Kuwait, is a country in West Asia. It is situated in the northern edge of Eastern Arabia at the tip of the Persian Gulf, bordering Iraq to the north and Saudi Arabia to the south. Kuwait also shares maritime borders with Iran. Kuwait has a coastal length of approximately 500 km (311 mi). Most of the country's population reside in the urban agglomeration of the capital and largest city Kuwait City. As of 2023, Kuwait has a population of 4.82 million people of which 1.53 million are Kuwaiti citizens while the remaining 3.29 million are foreign nationals from over 100 countries.

Abdullah Mubarak Al-Refai, was born in Kuwait. Al-Refai became President of Gulf University for Science and Technology in 2003. Prior to GUST, Al-Refai was the President of the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain.

The Australian University (AU) (formerly known as the Australian College of Kuwait is a private university located in Mubarak Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Area, Kuwait which was established in 2004 as Kuwait's first private technical college. The university started as a vocational education college in Maritime. The Diploma program was started later in different areas, which was then expanded to cover a Bachelor of Technology program in areas of Business and Engineering. The university also offers training program in Aviation. It was licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education under Amiri Decree 141/2003 and commenced operation in October 2004.

The Kuwaiti modern art movement emerged in the 1930s, Kuwait has the oldest modern arts movement in the Arabian Peninsula. Kuwait is home to more than 20 art galleries. In recent years, Kuwait's contemporary art scene has boomed. Kuwait has the second most lively gallery scene in the GCC.

Prof. Moudi A. Al-Humoud, is currently the Founding Administrative Board, Chair of Abdullah Al-Salem University in Kuwait and she is a professor of management at the College of Business Administration, Kuwait University. She served as president of Arab Open University, a pan Arab university operating in Kuwait, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan and Palestine.

Alanoud Alsharekh is a Kuwaiti women's rights activist who is a founding member of Abolish 153, a campaign calling to end honour killings in Kuwait. She has been awarded the Ordre national du Mérite and was made one of the BBC 100 Women in 2019.
