Marshfield is an extinct town in Vienna Township, Scott County, in the U.S. state of Indiana, about three miles northwest of Scottsburg. The GNIS classifies it as a populated place. [1]
Marshfield functioned as a water stop on the Jeffersonville, Madison and Indianapolis Railroad. It was the site of the third train robbery in American history in 1868 by the Reno Gang of adjacent Jackson County. An Indiana historical marker marks the location of the robbery. [2]

Lexington is an unincorporated community in Lexington Township, Scott County, in the U.S. state of Indiana, located about 10 miles west of the Ohio River and 28 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky. The town itself was founded before Indiana became the 19th state in 1816 and was located in Jefferson County at the time it was platted. It was the original county seat from 1820 to 1874, before local leaders decided on a more central location at nearby Scottsburg, which created animosity between the residents of the two towns for several decades afterwards.

Chesapeake was the first town in Steuben Township, Warren County, Indiana, which was formed in 1834. It was located about two miles east of present-day town of Marshfield and was the site of the first meetings of the township trustees in the 1830s. County Agent Luther Tillotson lived south of the town and may have had some involvement in its creation. Chesapeake consisted of at least several houses, a country store operated by William Newell and Thomas Washburn, and a blacksmith shop. There was also a school house there named for the town for many years, but this also is gone.

It purports to tell the true story of the Reno Brothers, an outlaw gang which terrorized the American Midwest, particularly Southern Indiana, in the period immediately following the American Civil War.
The Scott County Home is a historic county home located one mile south of Scottsburg, Scott County, Indiana. The original County Home was built in 1872 to replace the previous County Home located in Lexington, Indiana. Also known as the "Poor Farm", the County Home was originally a frame house, but was replaced with the current brick structure in 1892. The County Home was used to house the poor, indigent and physically and mentally handicapped. In 1973 the Home was no longer in use, though various agencies maintained offices there. Vacated by Scott County in 1997 when the Scott County Courthouse addition and renovation was completed, the property was given to Preservation Alliance, Inc. for the purpose of establishing a county museum. In 2001 it became the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum. Today the Museum hosts local exhibits related to Scott County history, such as the Pigeon Roost Massacre, General John Hunt Morgan's Raid, and the Marshfield train robbery by the Reno Brothers.

The Reno Gang, also known as the Reno Brothers Gang and The Jackson Thieves, were a group of criminals that operated in the Midwestern United States during and just after the American Civil War. Though short-lived, the gang carried out the first three peacetime train robberies in U.S. history. Most of the stolen money was never recovered.

He was the 22nd chief justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, from 1976 to 1983, and served a total of 20 years on the high court. He previously served 16 years as a Wisconsin circuit court judge, and 7 years as district attorney.
