Bengkalis Regency is a regency of Indonesia in Riau Province. The regency was originally established in 1956 and then included most of the northern part of the province, but on 4 October 1999 it was divided up, with most of the territory being split off to form the new Rokan Hilir Regency, Siak Regency and the city of Dumai. On 19 December 2008 a further five districts were removed to create the new Meranti Islands Regency, leaving eight districts in the Bengkalis Regency. These eight districts has increased since 2010 to eleven by the splitting of existing districts on the Sumatran mainland.
Siak, is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province, on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. It has an area of 8,556.09 km2 and had a population of 376,742 at the 2010 Census and 457,940 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 477,550, comprising 246,186 males and 231,364 females. The administrative centre of the regency is located at Siak Sri Indrapura. The northern part of this regency contains a large part of the Bukit Batu Biosphere Reserve.
Bintan Regency is an administrative area in the Riau Islands Province of Indonesia. Bintan Regency includes all of Bintan Island and also includes many outlying islands including the Tambelan Archipelago and Badas Islands situated between Bintan and West Kalimantan.
North Bengkulu is a regency of Bengkulu Province, Indonesia, on the island of Sumatra. It originally covered much of the northern part of Bengkulu Province, but on 25 February 2003 the most northwesterly districts were split off to form a separate Mukomuko Regency, and on 24 June 2008 the most southeastern districts were likewise split off to create a new Central Bengkulu Regency.
Rangsang is an island of the Meranti Islands Regency of Riau Province in the Strait of Malacca, Sumatra, Indonesia. Administratively, it consists of the three districts (kecamatan) of Rangsang, Rangsang Pesisir and Rangsang Barat. The island had a population of 51,452 at the 2010 Census and 58,464 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 60,300. It is just north of Tebing Tinggi Island, about 24 kilometres (15 mi) south-west of Great Karimun island and 22 kilometres (14 mi) west of Kundur Island.
Tebing Tinggi Island is an island off the north east coast of Riau Province, Sumatra, Indonesia, located in the Strait of Malacca. It is located in the Meranti Islands Regency, and is directly east of Padang Island and directly south of Rangsang Island. The area is 1,379.31 km2.
The Karimun Regency is located in the Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. Besides the central island of Great Karimun, the regency also includes the islands of Kundur and over 240 smaller islands. The district covers a land area of 1,524 km2 and a sea area of 6,460 km2, and its population was 212,561 at the 2010 census and 253,457 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 266,177.
Selat Panjang is the capital of Kepulauan Meranti Regency, which is part of the province of Riau in Indonesia. The regency is a new regency in Riau province which was established on 19 December 2008 after being separated from Bengkalis Regency. The city is located on Tebing Tinggi Island, which is separated by a narrow channel from Sumatra, and across the Strait of Malacca from Singapore.
Padang Lawas is a regency in the North Sumatra province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 3,912.18 km2, and had a population of 226,807 at the 2010 Census and 261,011 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 275,648 - comprising 138,506 males and 137,142 females. Its administrative seat is the town of Sibuhuan. Padang Lawas Regency was created on 17 July 2007 from southeastern parts of the South Tapanuli Regency. It is the only regency in this province that borders two other provinces, West Sumatra and Riau.
Serdang Bedagai Regency is a regency on the east coast of North Sumatra Province of Indonesia, facing Malaysia, with 95 km of coastline and covering an area of 1,900.22 square kilometres, divided into seventeen districts (kecamatan), in turn subdivided into 243 villages. Its administrative centre is the town of Sei Rampah. The regency surrounds the independent city of Tebing Tinggi, and also contains a district (kecamatan) by the same name. The name “Serdang Bedagai” was derived from the two Sultanates which formerly existed in the Region; they were Serdang Sultanate and Padang Bedagai Sultanate. The population was 592,922 at the 2010 Census, while the 2020 Census produced a total of 657,490; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 682,918.
Yapen Islands Regency is a regency (kabupaten) in Papua Province of eastern Indonesia. It covers an area of 2,432.49 km2 (939.19 sq mi), and had a population of 82,951 at the 2010 Census and 112,676 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 116,107. It comprises an archipelago which lies in Cenderawasih Bay off the north coast of Western New Guinea.
East Tanjung Jabung Regency is a regency of Jambi Province, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. The regency was created on 4 October 1999 by the division of the then Tanjung Jabung Regency into eastern and western halves. It now has an area of 5,087.07 km2 and had a population of 205,272 at the 2010 census and 229,813 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 236,727. The regency's administrative capital lies at the town of Muara Sabak, a riverine port near the mouth of the Berbak River.
Tebo Regency is a regency of Jambi Province, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra, and was created on 4 October 1999 by the division of the former Bungo Tebo Regency into a new Bungo Regency in the west and this Tebo Regency in the east. The Tebo regency has an area of 6,461 km² and had a population of 297,735 at the 2010 Census and 337,669 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 350,761. The regency seat is at the town of Muara Tebo.
Empat Lawang Regency is a regency of South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. It was created on 2 January 2007 from what had been formerly the western districts of Lahat Regency. It covers an area of 2,256.44 km² and had a population of 221,176 at the 2010 Census and 333,622 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 336,694. The regency seat is at the town of Tebing Tinggi.
Kapuas Regency is one of the thirteen regencies which divide Central Kalimantan Province, on the island of Kalimantan, Indonesia. It formerly covered a wider area, but on 10 April 2002 two further regencies were cut out of its western districts, and the residual area is now 17,070.39 km.2 Its population was 329,646 at the 2010 Census and 410,446 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 425,186. The administrative centre is the town of Kuala Kapuas near the coast, but the largest town is Selat, which includes 8 of the regency's 15 urban kelurahan, and had 72,382 inhabitants in mid 2023.
East Kotawaringin Regency is one of the thirteen regencies which comprise the Central Kalimantan Province on the island of Kalimantan (Borneo), Indonesia. It originally covered a much larger part of the province, having been split from a single Kotawaringin Regency on 26 June 1959 into separate regencies for East and West Kotawaringin, but on 10 April 2002 several districts in the west of the regency were split off to form the new Seruyan Regency, and several districts in the east of the regency were similarly split off to form the new Katingan Regency. The area of the residual East Kotawaringin Regency is 16,796 km2, and its population was 374,175 at the 2010 Census, and 428,900 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 443,359. The town of Sampit is the capital of East Kotawaringin Regency.
The Pangkajene and Islands Regency, is a regency of South Sulawesi province of Indonesia. The regency lies primarily on the mainland of Sulawesi's southern peninsula, but also includes the Spermonde Islands off the west coast of that peninsula, as well as other small islands further west and southwest. The principal town lies at Pangkajene on Sulawesi, but there are a series of further small towns like Lejang, Labakkang, Bonto-Bonto and Segeri proceeding northwards from Pangkajene along the Trans-Sulawesi Highway. The total land area is 1,112.29 km2, and the population was 305,737 at the 2010 Census and 345,775 at the 2020 Census; the official population estimate as of mid-2023 was 357,846.
Sinjai Regency is a regency of the South Sulawesi province of Indonesia. The regency, which is separated from the Bone Regency to its north by the River Tangka, covers an area of 819.96 km2. It had a population of 228,936 at the 2010 census and 259,478 at the 2020 census. The official estimate of population as of mid-2024 was 273,559. It includes the Nine Islands in the Gulf of Bone off the east coast of the southern peninsula of Sulawesi; this archipelago forms an administrative district within the regency. The regency's principal town lies at Sinjai, a port situated on the east coast of that peninsula.
The Banggai Archipelago is a group of islands located at the far eastern end of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. It makes up a regency (kabupaten) of Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia, created on 4 October 1999 by splitting the existing Banggai Regency into a residual Banggai Regency situated on the mainland of Sulawesi and a new Banggai Islands Regency then comprising the entire archipelago. On 14 December 2012 a splitting of the Banggai Islands archipelago took place with the removal of the more southerly seven districts from the 13-year-old regency to form a separate Banggai Laut Regency.
