The North America and the Caribbean Handball Confederation (NACHC) is the governing body of the Olympic sport of handball and beach handball in North America and the Caribbean. It is affiliated to the International Handball Federation (IHF).

NACHC has 21 members countries located within North America and the Caribbean. One of the IHF's six continental confederations, the NACHC was formed officially on 13 April 2019 in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic). The NACHC headquarters is located in Colorado Springs (United States).

History

On 14 January 2018, during the IHF Council meeting, Pan-American Team Handball Federation was suspended by International Handball Federation and was divided into two continental confederations namely the North America and the Caribbean Handball Confederation and the South and Central America Handball Confederation. The IHF Council decision was taken on the fact that there were no signs of development at the level of handball and beach handball in the North American, Central American and the Caribbean countries. There was some development at the South American level but that was also not comparable to the other continents like Europe, Asia and Africa. [1] No team from Americas had ever reached to the semifinal stage of the IHF World Men's Handball Championship and the IHF Men's Junior World Championship. The PATHF appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and it annulled the IHF's decision. [2]

At the Extraordinary IHF Congress 2019 the IHF statues were revised to add the new federations. [3] [4]

On 29 October 2019 the new headquarters was opened at the bureaus of USA Team Handball. [5]

Three other states located along the western fringe of Asia – Cyprus, Armenia and Israel – are also EHF members. Women's Handball Championship was the fourth edition of the championship, held from 22 to 27 August 2021 at Elgin, United States under the aegis of North America and Caribbean Handball Confederation. It was the first time in history that the championship is organised by the USA Team Handball. It also acted as the qualification tournament for the 2021 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top team from the championship directly qualifying for the event to be held in Spain. The tournament was held behind closed doors, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The North American and Caribbean Senior Club Championship, organized by the North America and Caribbean Handball Confederation, is the official competition for men's handball clubs of North America and Caribbean, and takes place every year. In addition to crowning the NorCa champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the IHF Men's Super Globe.

The Mexican Handball Federation is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball in Mexico. FMHB is a member of the North America and Caribbean Handball Confederation (NACHC) and member of the International Handball Federation (IHF) since 1970.

The 2022 North America and Caribbean Women's Junior Handball Championship was the first edition of the tournament, it took place in Mexico City, Mexico, from 4 to 8 April 2022. It acted as the North America and Caribbean qualifying tournament for the 2022 Women's Junior World Handball Championship.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Nor.Ca. Women's Handball Championship</span> Womens handball tournament in Greenland

‌The 2023 Nor.Ca. Women's Handball Championship was the fifth edition of the championship, held from 5 to 11 June 2023 in Nuuk, Greenland under the aegis of North America and Caribbean Handball Confederation. It was the first time in history that the championship was organised by the Greenland Handball Federation and it also acted as the qualification tournament for the 2023 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top team from the championship directly qualifying for the event.

The 2025 World Men's Handball Championship qualification decided who qualified for the 2025 World Men's Handball Championship in Croatia, Denmark and Norway. Qualifying occurred between February 2023 and June 2024. The championship will feature 32 teams for the third time.
