Thomas Anthony White (born March 2,2003) is an American college baseball third baseman for the LSU Tigers. He previously played for the NC State Wolfpack.
White grew up in St. Pete Beach,Florida and initially attended Calvary Christian High School. [1] As a junior,he batted .444 with 18 RBIs and four home runs in 11 games before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. [2] He transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton,Florida prior to his senior year. White batted .378 and was named an All-American in his only season at IMG. [3]
White was named NC State's starting first baseman entering his freshman year. He garnered national attention after batting .588 with nine home runs in his first eight collegiate games. [4] [5] White set records for the most home runs by a NC State player and the most by a freshman in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) since the introduction of the BBCOR standard for bats in 2011. [6] He later hit his 23rd home run to break the overall ACC freshman home run record set by Florida State's Chris Diaz in 1998. [7] White was named the ACC Freshman of the Year. [8] [9] After his freshman campaign,in which the Wolfpack failed to make the NCAA tournament despite a strong regular season,White entered the NCAA transfer portal. [10]
White ultimately committed to transfer to Louisiana State. [11]
The LSU Tigers baseball team represents Louisiana State University in NCAA Division I college baseball. The team participates in the West Division of the Southeastern Conference. The Tigers play home games on LSU's campus at Alex Box Stadium,Skip Bertman Field,and they are currently coached by Jay Johnson.
The NC State Wolfpack is the nickname of the athletic teams representing North Carolina State University. The Wolfpack competes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) for all sports since the 1953–54 season. The athletic teams of the Wolfpack compete in 22 intercollegiate varsity sports. NC State is a founding member of the ACC and has won eleven national championships:five NCAA championships,two AIAW championships,and four titles under other sanctioning bodies. The 2015–16 NC State Wolfpack men's basketball team represented North Carolina State University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolfpack were led by fifth year head coach Mark Gottfried. The team played its home games at PNC Arena and were members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). They finished the season 16–17,5–13 in ACC play to finish in 13th place. They defeated Wake Forest in the first round of the ACC tournament to advance to the second round where they lost to Duke.
