Whitesville is an unincorporated community in Harris County, Georgia, United States. [1]

History

A post office called Whitesville was established in 1837, and remained in operation until 1905. [2] The community was named after the White family of first settlers. [3]

The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Whitesville as a town in 1837. [4] The town's municipal charter was repealed in 1995. [5]

The Whitesville United Methodist Church and Cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. [6]

Geography

Whitesville is located in the northwestern part of Harris County in west central Georgia, and is served by I-185 and GA-219.
