The World Junior Squash championships are the official junior tournament in the game of squash conducted by the World Squash Federation (WSF). [1] [2] Entry is open to individuals aged 19 and below. [3] [4] Since its inception the world juniors has been held biennially with the junior men (individual and team) held one year, junior women (individual and team) the following year. [5] [6] The men's team event was held unofficially from 1973 to 1979. [7] The individuals event (for both men's and women's) are held annually starting from 2009 while the team event remains biennial. [5] [6]
The team event was started unofficially in April 1973 to coincide with the British Junior Open tournament which was held annually in Britain. Only four countries (England, Scotland, Wales and Sweden) took part in the event which was held at the courts of the National Westminster Bank Sports Ground in South London, playing for a shield presented by the bank. [7]
The official men's world team championship tournament has been held since 1980. It has been won by 4 countries. The record number of countries participating in a single men's team tournament is 31, in the 2000 and the 2008 tournament held in Milan, Italy and Zürich, Switzerland respectively. [7]

The women's individual championship is the WSA Junior Tier 1 tournament and players who compete in the tournament will be awarded ranking points for the official "Rising Stars" rankings. [11]
Official women's world team championship tournaments has been held between 1985 and now. It has been won by 4 different countries. The record number of countries participating in a single tournament is 20, in the 2005 tournament held in Herentals, Belgium. [13]

Joshna Chinappa is an Indian professional squash player. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 10 in July 2016. She was the first Indian to win the British Junior Squash Championship title in 2005 in the under-19 category and was also the youngest Indian women's national champion. She is the current record-holder of most national championship wins, with 18 titles. In 2024, she was awarded India's fourth-highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri, by the Government of India.
Cyrus Poncha is an Indian squash administrator and coach. Born in Mumbai, he is currently based out of Chennai, and coaches at the ICL-TNSRA Squash Academy. Presently, he is the Secretary General of Squash Rackets Federation of India. He is a Dronacharya Awardee. He was adjudged Asian Squash Federation Coach of the Year six times. He has coached several squash players such as Joshna Chinappa, Dipika Pallikal Karthik, Saurav Ghoshal and Velavan Senthilkumar.
Saurav Ghosal is a professional squash player from India and reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 10 in April 2019. He won the first ever medal in Squash for India at the Commonwealth games. He was the national champion in 2020 by winning 77th National Squash championship.
Dipika Pallikal is an Indian professional squash player. She is the first Indian to break into the top 10 in the PSA Women's rankings.
The WSF World Team Squash Championships are an international squash competition organised by the World Squash Federation (WSF) and played between teams representing different nations. Countries enter teams of three or four players to represent them in the championships. In each round of the competition, teams face each other in a best-of-three singles matches contest. The competition is held once every two years, with the venue changing each time. Normally the men's and women's events are held in different years in two locations.
Mohamed ElShorbagy is an Egyptian-English professional squash player. He represented Egypt from a young age until June 2022, when he switched to represent England. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 1 in November 2014, March 2018, February 2020, and again in July 2021 and was the 2017 World Squash champion.
Nour El Sherbini is an Egyptian professional squash player. She is a seven time World champion and became the youngest woman to win the Women's World Championship (2015). In 2016, she retained her title and in 2019 won her third World Championship equalling the feat of Michelle Martin and rising to equal fourth in the all-time list of world championships won. She is the current world champion after winning the 2022/2023 edition of the tournament.
Nour El Tayeb is a professional squash player who represents Egypt. She reached a career-high world ranking of three in March, 2018.

The Squash Rackets Federation of India or SRFI is the Indian governmental apex body for the game of squash.
