Killed in action (KIA) is a casualty classification generally used by militaries to describe the deaths of their own combatants at the hands of hostile forces. The United States Department of Defense, for example, says that those declared KIA need not have fired their weapons but have been killed due to hostile attack. KIAs include those killed by friendly fire in the midst of combat, but not from incidents such as accidental vehicle crashes, murder and other non-hostile events or terrorism. KIA can be applied both to front-line combat troops and to naval, air and support troops. Someone who is killed in action during a particular event is denoted with a † (dagger) beside their name to signify their death in that event or events.

The House of Plantagenet was a royal house which originated from the lands of Anjou in France. The name Plantagenet is used by modern historians to identify four distinct royal houses: the Angevins, who were also counts of Anjou; the main body of the Plantagenets following the loss of Anjou; and the Plantagenets' two cadet branches, the houses of Lancaster and York. The family held the English throne from 1154, with the accession of Henry II, until 1485, when Richard III died in battle.

The 27 Club is a list consisting mostly of popular musicians, artists, or actors who died at age 27. Although the claim of a "statistical spike" for the death of musicians at that age has been repeatedly disproved by research, it remains a cultural phenomenon, documenting the deaths of celebrities, some noted for their high-risk lifestyles. The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kerala was confirmed in Thrissur on 30 January 2020. Following the return of Keralites from other countries and states, more cases were reported in mid-May, with the highest single-day spike on 28 May. As of 4 June, there have been 1588 confirmed cases with 690 (46.18%) recoveries and fourteen deaths in the state. Kerala has one of the lowest mortality rate of 0.94% among all states in India. Kerala's success in containing COVID-19 has been widely praised both nationally and internationally.
The COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed to have spread to the Indian state of the Punjab on 9 March 2020, when an Indian man returning from Italy was tested positive. As of 25 May, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has confirmed a total of 2,415 cases, including 47 deaths and 2,043 recoveries in the Punjab.
