The 16th Ujala Asianet Film Awards geared up at Dubai drew thousands of Malayalam movie fans at the Meydan Hotel & Grand Stand on January 10, 2014. The awards were presented annually by the Asianet TV to honor the artistic and technical excellence in Malayalam Film industry with over 30 award categories. They were held in Dubai for the second time after a successful show there in 2012. [1] [2]
The biggest attraction of the ceremony was Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, who was honored with the International Icon of Indian Cinema award. The laurel came to King Khan from a million viewers of Asianet, who had selected him for his onscreen aura and the connect that he shares with countless international fans around the world. [3]
He was accompanied by other big names from Malayalam movie industry. The show saw the attendance of stars including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Dileep, Jayaram, Innocent, Priyamani, Kavya Madhavan and also other generation next actors such as Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Amala Paul, Nazriya Nazim and many more.
Leading Bollywood composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan gave a live performance, featuring his chartbuster tracks. The Tamil singer Andrea Jeremiah also gave a live performance of her hit Tamil and Telugu songs. MJS, the winners of India's Dancing Superstar also gave a performance.
Malayalam actors Kavya Madhavan, Isha Talwar, Vineeth, Asha Sarath, and gen-next sensation Nazriya Nazim also entertained the audience. Malayalam singer Rimi Tomy paid a tribute to A. R. Rahman by singing his hit songs. [4]

Muhammad Kutty Panaparambil Ismail, known mononymously by the hypocorism Mammootty, is an Indian actor and film producer who works predominantly in Malayalam-language films. He has also appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English-language productions. In a career spanning five decades, he has appeared in more than 420 films, predominantly in lead roles. He is the recipient of several accolades, including three National Film Awards, eleven Kerala State Film Awards, eleven Kerala Film Critics Awards and fifteen Filmfare Awards South. He was honored with the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award by the Government of India in 1998, for his contributions to cinema. He was also honored with the Kerala Prabha Award by the Government of Kerala in 2022.
Kavya Madhavan is a former Indian actress, who appeared predominantly in Malayalam films. She made her debut in 1991 as a child artist in Pookkalam Varavayi. Her debut role as one of the lead actresses was in Lal Jose's Chandranudikkunna Dikkil in 1999, when she was in the ninth grade. Its success established her status as one of the leading actress in the Malayalam industry during the 2000s. She has acted in over 75 movies. She has won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress twice, for her performances in Perumazhakkalam (2004) and Khaddama (2010).
Manju Warrier is an Indian actress, who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema. She is the recipient of a National Film Award, a Kerala State Film Award and seven Filmfare Awards South.
Shwetha Menon is an Indian actress, model, television anchor and beauty pageant titleholder. She has won Femina Miss India Asia Pacific 1994. She has predominantly acted in Malayalam and Hindi language films, besides appearing in a number of Telugu and Tamil Language Films. She won two Kerala State Film Awards for Best Actress and two Filmfare Award South. She participated in Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 1.
Vijay Yesudas is an Indian playback singer and actor. He has sung over 1000 film songs. Vijay works predominantly in the South Indian film industry, mostly in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi. He is the son of acclaimed singer K. J. Yesudas.
Amal Neerad is an Indian film director, cinematographer and producer who mainly works in Malayalam cinema. He attended the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. He was awarded the National Film Award for Best Cinematography in 2001 for his diploma film Meena Jha.
Meera Vasudevan is an Indian actress, who has mainly appeared in films and TV soap's in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu language. She received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize in 2005 and the Kerala State Television Award for Best Actress in 2007. She is well known for her role Sumithra in the Malayalam soap opera Kudumbavilakku on Asianet. Currently she is playing role of Sujatha in Madhuranombarakattu on Zee Keralam.

Oru Naal Varum is a 2010 Indian Malayalam-language satirical film directed by T. K. Rajeev Kumar, written by Sreenivasan, and produced by Maniyanpilla Raju. It stars Mohanlal and Sameera Reddy in her Malayalam debut, with Sreenivasan, Devayani, Nazriya Nazim, and Esther Anil in supporting roles. The film's soundtrack was composed by M. G. Sreekumar. Oru Naal Varum was released on 9 July 2010. The plot deals with corruption in India.

Khaddama (transl. Housemaid) is a 2011 Indian Malayalam-language survival drama film co-written and directed by Kamal. It stars Kavya Madhavan in the title role and was produced by P. V. Pradeep under the banner of Anitha Productions. Cinematography is by Manoj Pillai and the film was edited by K. Rajagopal. The film features songs composed by Bennet Veetraag and the background music is by M. Jayachandran.

Ravi as the antagonist, along with Mamta Mohandas, Govind Padmasoorya and Master Prajwal in major supporting roles. It features a film score and soundtrack by Bijibal. Varsham released worldwide on 6 November 2014. The film received generally positive reviews from critics.
Neha Saxena is an Indian actress who appears in Malayalam, Tulu, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films. She is best known for her roles in the Malayalam films such as Kasaba with Mammootty and Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol and Aaraattu alongside Mohanlal.
