Herman G. Steiner was an American football, baseball, and track coach, athletic trainer, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head coach of the Duke Blue Devils football program during the 1922 college football season. Between 1921 and 1927, he was also the Assistant Director of Physical Education at Duke University and served stints as the school's head baseball coach, head track coach, trainer, and director of intramural athletics.

Arthur Daniel Kahler Sr. was an American college football and basketball player and coach. He was listed in "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" as only person to coach at two different major colleges at the same time—head basketball coach at Brown University and football coach at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He later became a coach and athletic director at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.

Edward Lindell Teague Jr. was an American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina, from 1949 to 1950 and The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, from 1957 to 1965, compiling a career college football coaching record of 53–53–3. He also coached The Citadel Bulldogs men's soccer team from 1972 to 1976. Teague was also the athletic director at Guilford from 1949 to 1951 and The Citadel from 1957 to 1985.

The 1897 Clemson Tigers football team represented Clemson Agricultural College in the 1897 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association football season. The Tigers completed their season as a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association with a record of 2–2, with wins over South Carolina and a Charlotte YMCA team, and losses to Georgia and North Carolina. All games were played in the opposing school's home city. William M. Williams served as the team's coach for his first season while W. T. Brock was the captain. The team was state champion.

Henry Schade is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Gold Coast Football Club and Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was the Gold Coast's first selection, number 24 overall, in the 2011 AFL Draft. The 196 cm full-back played for the North Hobart Demons in the Tasmanian Football League.

In their first season under head coach Bill Armstrong, the Midshipmen compiled an 8–1 record, shut out seven opponents, and outscored all opponents by a combined score of 111 to 34. The Army–Navy Game was canceled due to Presidential cabinet order.

Joel D. Whitaker was an American ophthalmologist and college football player and coach. He was hired as one of the first coaches of the Guilford Quakers in 1897, posting a 2–2–1 record. Whitaker played college football at the University of North Carolina, where he was a prominent fullback, described by Kemp Plummer Battle as "probably the university's best all around athlete." In the 1895 Georgia vs. North Carolina football game, Whitaker threw what is purported by some to be the first forward pass. He picked an all-time UNC team in 1910.
