Levski Sofia is a professional association football club based in Sofia, Bulgaria. The team competes in the First League, the top division of the Bulgarian football league system. The club was founded on May 24, 1914, as a football department of Sport Club Levski by a group of students and is named after Vasil Levski, a Bulgarian revolutionary renowned as the national hero of the country.

Asen Peshev was а Bulgarian footballer. He played as a striker or left wing. He started playing in the Sofia club Vladislav in 1923. In 1924 he moved to Levski Sofia where he stayed thirteen seasons. He also played in Jidenitse and Moravska Slava Burno. In Levski he played ninety-nine games scoring a total of eighty-six goals. On the Bulgarian national team he played during 1927-1936 in forty games, scoring ten goals. He is declared for footballer number 1 in Bulgaria in 1931 in a survey of the popular players in the magazine Sport. He is characterised by his inborn talent, high culture and gallantry, with his physical power and outstanding left foot. He has been referred to as the King of the Volleys.
Asen Panchev was а Bulgarian footballer. Played as a left wing. He started his career in the local club Asparuh Sofia. Later moved to the youth club of Levski Sofia. In Levski he stayed thirteen seasons, played in 107 games and scored a total of sixty goals. He played one season (1934–1935) for Bohemians Praha. After the end of the season returned to Levski. In his stay in the national team of Bulgaria during the period 1926-1936 he took part in thirty-nine games, scoring seventeen goals. At the end of 1936 he was crippled and permanently became invalid. He coached Levski in 1939-1940 when the team won the silver medals. In 1941-1942 he won the championship and cup with Levski Sofia. For a short period of time coaches Levski in 1952. He was an inseparable part of the glorious pair with Asen Peshev. He has been compared to a flying arrow. His nickname was "Pancheto".

Nikola Mutafchiev was a Bulgarian footballer who played as a forward for Levski Sofia and Bulgaria during the 1920s. His elder brother Dimitar Mutafchiev also was a footballer.
