The 1937 Salvadoran Football Championship was the 5th season of the first division of Salvadoran football. Club Deportivo 33 was the season's champion, the club's first title. [1]

Alianza Fútbol Club, also known simply as Alianza, is a professional football club based in San Salvador, El Salvador. Founded in 1958, Alianza was almost immediately successful, winning its first championships in the 1966 and 1967 Salvadoran seasons. Even more significantly, Alianza was the first Central American and Salvadoran club to win the CONCACAF Champions' Cup in 1967, and is currently one of only three Salvadoran teams to have done so.
Club Deportivo Águila, commonly known as Águila, is a Salvadoran professional football club based in San Miguel. The club currently competes in Primera División, the top tier of El Salvador football league system.
The Estadio Cuscatlán is a football stadium located in the city of San Salvador, El Salvador. It was inaugurated in 1976. It can hold 53,400 spectators, making it the Association Football stadium with the largest spectator capacity in Central America and the Caribbean. The stadium has undergone several renovations, including in 1997; 2007; 2008; 2015, with the change of colors alluding to the country's flag ; and the most recent in 2020, with the installation of a new screen 100m² 4K LED and 54 new 1,500-watt metal halide luminaires with a capacity of 1,000 luxes, and an automated irrigation system.

The 2011 Central American Junior and Youth Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio Nacional Flor Blanca "Magico Gonzalez" in San Salvador, El Salvador, between June 18–19, 2011. Organized by the Central American Isthmus Athletic Confederation (CADICA), it was the 24th edition of the Junior (U-20) and the 19th edition of the Youth (U-18) competition. A total of 80 events were contested, 42 by boys and 38 by girls. Overall winner on points was Costa Rica.

The rivalry between the two nations peaked in 1969 when both teams played each other in the 1970 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and the matches they played between each other, which ultimately saw El Salvador advance to the 1970 FIFA World Cup, were a contributing factor which led to the outbreak of the Football War in July 1969.

The tournament began on 17 March 1974 and finished on 29 December 1974. Platense secured the club first Primera División title after defeating Negocios Internacionales in three-game series; they became the second club to win the first division in their very first appearance.
