The 1937 World Table Tennis Championships women's singles was the 11th edition of the women's singles championship. [1] [2] Ruth Aarons and Gertrude Pritzi competed in the final which ended in an anticlimax because both players were stopped from finishing the final under the new time limit rules and declared joint champions. [3]

Rong Guotuan was a Chinese table tennis player. He won the men's singles title at the 1959 World Table Tennis Championships in Dortmund, the first world championship winner representing the People's Republic of China. During the Cultural Revolution, Rong was persecuted as a "spy suspect". He committed suicide on June 20, 1968.
