The 1939 World Table Tennis Championships were held in Cairo from March 6 to March 11, 1939. [1] [2]

Contents

Only 11 men's teams and 5 women's teams entered the Championships. Hungary, the United States and Austria were the major nations missing. [3] Viktor Barna and Richard Bergmann played under the England flag for the first time.

The 1959 World Table Tennis Championships were held in Dortmund from March 27 to April 5, 1959.

The 1963 World Table Tennis Championships were held in Prague from April 5 to April 14, 1963.

The 1967 World Table Tennis Championships were held at the Johanneshovs Isstadion in Stockholm from April 11 to April 21, 1967.

The 1985 World Table Tennis Championships were held in Göteborg from March 28 to April 7, 1985.

The 1989 World Table Tennis Championships were held in Dortmund from March 29 to April 9, 1989.

The 1999 World Table Tennis Championships were held in Eindhoven from August 2 to August 8, 1999. The Championships were originally scheduled from April 26 to May 9 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia but were postponed after the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia during the Kosovo War in March 1999. Individual events were relocated to Eindhoven and team competitions were moved to Kuala Lumpur in 2000.

The 2000 World Team Table Tennis Championships were held in Kuala Lumpur from February 19 to February 26, 2000. The Team Championships were originally part of the 1999 World Championships program scheduled to be held in Belgrade, Yugoslavia but were postponed after the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia during the Kosovo War in March 1999.

The 2001 World Table Tennis Championships were held in Osaka from April 23 to May 6, 2001. It was the last time that the Championships hosted both the individual and team events.

Ariel Yenhua Hsing is an American table tennis player who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Lily Ann Zhang is an American table tennis player who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London with teammates Ariel Hsing and Erica Wu. She also competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio with teammates Jiaqi Zheng and Jennifer Wu. She is a six-time US national champion in women's singles. Zhang has won the US national championship in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022. In 2011, she was a bronze medalist in women's singles and women's team at the Pan American Games and won the women's doubles title at the Qatar Peace and Sport Cup. She is currently a member of the United States National Women's team. She has been ranked as high as #2 in the cadet (U-15) world ranking and #5 in the junior (U-18) world ranking.

The 2014 World Team Table Tennis Championships were held in Tokyo from 28 April to 5 May 2014. The Championships was staged in Japan for the seventh time and was the 52nd edition of the team competition.

Miu Hirano is a Japanese table tennis player. She won Women's World Cup in 2016 as the youngest ever winner. She won the women's singles at the 2017 Asian Table Tennis Championships by sweeping away three top Chinese players. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in women's team event.
