The 1962–63 Scottish Second Division was won by St Johnstone who, along with second placed East Stirlingshire, were promoted to the First Division. Brechin City finished bottom.

St Johnstone Football Club is a professional football club in Perth, Scotland. The name of the football club derives from St. John's Toun – the old name of Perth. Although it is officially recorded as being formed in 1884, the club did not play its first game until February 1885. The club's home since 1989 has been McDiarmid Park. The club's first Scottish Cup appearance was in 1886–87 and they joined the Scottish Football League in 1911–12.

East Stirlingshire Football Club is a Scottish association football club based in the town of Falkirk. The club was founded in 1881 and competes in the Lowland Football League, in the fifth tier of the Scottish football league system. The club's origins can be traced to 1880 when a local cricket club formed a football team under the name Britannia, based in the village of Bainsford.

Brechin City Football Club is a Scottish football club based in the town of Brechin in Angus. The club was founded in 1906 by players and officials of two local clubs, Brechin Harp and Brechin Hearts. The club currently competes in Scottish League One as a member of the Scottish Professional Football League.

The Scottish Football League (SFL) was a league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland. From its foundation in 1890 until the breakaway Scottish Premier League (SPL) was formed in 1998, the SFL represented the top level of football in Scotland. After 1998, the SFL represented levels 2 to 4 of the Scottish football league system. In June 2013, the SFL merged with the SPL to form the Scottish Professional Football League.

Falkirk Football Club is a Scottish professional association football club based in the town of Falkirk. The club was founded in 1876 and competes in the Scottish Championship as a member of the Scottish Professional Football League. The club was elected to the Second Division of the Scottish Football League in 1902–03, was promoted to the First Division after two seasons and achieved its highest league position in the early 1900s when it was runner-up to Celtic in 1907–08 and 1909–10. The 2005–06 Scottish Football League Third Division was the 11th season in the format of ten teams in the fourth-tier of Scottish football. The season started on 6 August 2005 and ended on 29 April 2006. Cowdenbeath finished top and were directly promoted to the 2006–07 Scottish Second Division.

The 2009–10 Scottish First Division was the fifteenth season of the First Division in its current format of ten teams.

The 2009–10 Scottish Second Division will be the fifteenth season of the Second Division in its current format of ten teams.

The 2009–10 Scottish Football League Third Division was the 15th season in the format of ten teams in the fourth-tier of Scottish football. The season started on 8 August 2009 and ended on 1 May 2010. Livingston F.C. finished top and were promoted alongside Forfar Athletic as play-off winners.

The 1996–97 Scottish First Division season began on 12 August 1996.

The 2011–12 Scottish Football League Second Division is the 17th season in the current format of 10 teams in the third-tier of Scottish football. Livingston F.C. are the current champions.

The 1982–83 Scottish First Division season was won by St Johnstone by one point over nearest rival Hearts. Both clubs were promoted to the Premier Division.

The 1975–76 Scottish First Division season was the first season in which the Scottish First Division became the second tier of Scottish football and the number of teams was reduced from 20 to 14. The season was won by Partick Thistle, who were promoted along with Kilmarnock to the Premier Division. Dunfermline Athletic and Clyde were relegated to the Second Division.
