It was the first IHF World Men's Handball Championship to include more than one host country. It was also the first time a unified Korean team participated.

The 2015 IHF Men's Junior World Championship was the 20th edition of the tournament and held at Brazil from 19 July to 1 August 2015. The decision to select Brazil as the host was announced 1 August 2014. France won their first title by defeating Denmark 26–24 in the final.

The 2017 Pan American Women's Handball Championship was the 14th edition of the Pan American Women's Handball Championship, held in at the Sociedad Alemana de Gimnasia de Villa Ballester, in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina from 18 to 25 June 2017. It acted as American qualifying tournament for the 2017 World Women's Handball Championship. The event was originally set to be held in Toronto, Canada but the Canadian Handball Federation withdrew, citing lack of funds.

The 2017–18 Argentine Torneo Federal A, was the 5th season of the third tier of the Argentine football league system. The tournament is reserved for teams indirectly affiliated to the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA), while teams affiliated to AFA have to play the Primera B Metropolitana, which is the other third tier competition. The champion was promoted to Primera B Nacional. 39 teams are competing in the league, 31 returning from the 2016–17 season, 4 teams that were relegated from Primera B Nacional and 4 teams promoted from Federal B. The regular season began on September 17, 2017 and ended in May 2018.

Handball competition of the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla was held from 20 July to 1 August at the Coliseo Colegio Sagrado Corazón de Jesús. The top three teams in both genders qualified to the 2019 Pan American Games.

The 2018 IHF South and Central American Emerging Nations Championship was the 1st edition of this Handball event organized by the International Handball Federation. It was held in Palmira, Colombia at the Pabellon Blanco, from 22 to 28 October.

The División de Honor Femenina 2017–18, or Liga Guerreras Iberdrola 2017-18 after sponsorship of Iberdrola, was the 61st season of women's handball top flight in Spain since its establishment. Bera Bera won his fifth title. The season began on 6 September, 2017 and the last matchday was played on 26 May, 2018. A total of 14 teams took part the league, 12 of which had already contested in the 2016–17 season, and two of which were promoted from the División de Plata 2016–17.

The División de Honor Femenina 2018–19, or Liga Guerreras Iberdrola 2018-19 after sponsorship of Iberdrola, was the 62nd season of women's handball top flight in Spain since its establishment. The season began on 7 September. A total of 14 teams take part the league, 12 of which had already contested in the 2017–18 season, and two of which were promoted from the División de Plata 2017–18.

The 2019 South and Central American Men's Junior Handball Championship was the first edition of the tournament, took place in Palmira, Colombia at the Pabellon Blanco, from 3 to 7 April 2019. It acted as the South and Central American qualifying tournament for the 2019 Men's Junior World Handball Championship.

The 2019 South and Central American Men's Youth Handball Championship was the first edition of the tournament, took place in Taubaté, Brazil at the Ginásio EMECAL, from 8 to 12 May 2019. It acted as the South and Central American qualifying tournament for the 2019 Men's Youth World Handball Championship.

The 2020 Argentine Torneo Federal A also known as the 2020 Torneo Transición Federal A, was the eighth season of the Torneo Federal A, the regionalised third tier of the Argentine football league system. The tournament is reserved for teams indirectly affiliated to the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA), while teams affiliated to AFA have to play the Primera B Metropolitana, which is the other third tier competition. The competition was contested by 26 of the 30 teams that took part in the 2019–20 season, which was suspended and subsequently abandoned due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as it was optional to participate in this season. Two teams were promoted to Primera B Nacional and there was no relegation to Torneo Regional Federal Amateur. The regular season began on 4 December 2020 and ended on 31 January 2021.

The qualification for the 1972 Men's Olympic Handball Tournament assigned quota places to sixteens teams: the host, seven teams from the world championships, four continental champions and six teams from the World Olympic qualification tournaments respectively.

The 2021 Argentine Torneo Federal A, was the ninth season of the Torneo Federal A, the regionalised third tier of the Argentine football league system. The tournament is reserved for teams indirectly affiliated to the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA), while teams affiliated to AFA have to play the Primera B Metropolitana, which is the other third tier competition. The competition was contested by 27 of the 31 teams that took part in the 2020 season and four teams promoted from Torneo Regional Federal Amateur. Two teams will be promoted to Primera B Nacional and there was no relegation to Torneo Regional Federal Amateur. The season began on 11 April and ended in December 2021.

The 2022 World and European Wheelchair Handball Championship was a wheelchair handball tournament held in Leiria, Portugal from 18 to 20 November 2022.

The Spain national wheelchair handball team is the national wheelchair handball team of Spain and is controlled by the Royal Spanish Handball Federation.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Handball at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games</span>

Handball competition at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games are scheduled to be held from 24 June to 7 July 2023. The venue for the competition is the Multigimnasio Don Bosco located in Soyapango.

The 2024 Wheelchair Handball World Championship will be a 4×4-wheelchair handball tournament held in Cairo, Egypt from 16 to 21 September 2024. The games will be played at the Hassan Moustafa Sports Hall.
