The 1981 Division 1 season was the 18th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. [1] US Gorée won the second title and participated in the 1982 African Cup of Champions Clubs the following year. AS Police participated in the 1982 CAF Cup Winner's Cup and SEIB Diourbel in the 1982 West African Cup.

Senegal Premier League is the top division of the Senegal Football Association, it was founded in 1966. The league also hosts a domestic cup, the Coupe de la Ligue. Football clubs from the Senegal Premier League also compete for the Senegal FA Cup.

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) is the governing body of football in Senegal. It was founded in 1960, affiliated to FIFA in 1964 and to CAF in 1963. It organizes the national football league and the national team.

SEIB Diourbel (now SONACOS) was the defending team of the title. A total of 14 clubs participated in the competition. The season featured 337 matches, the match with Casa Sport and ASC Niayès was cancelled and scored 378 goals. No new clubs came from the second division (Division 2).

The 2006 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 26th of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. Its started on 6 May and finished on 2 July, earlier than the last season. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. Sporting Praia won their 5th title and in the following year participated in the 2007 CAF Champions League. No second place club participated in the 2007 CAF Confederation Cup.

The 2010 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 31st of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. Its started on 8 May, slightly later than the last season and finished on 10 July, later than last year. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. It was the second consecutive time that the final featured two clubs from the same island and city, the next time it happened would be five years later. It brought the Capital Rivalry between Sporting and Boavista to the national championships. Another club of Praia named Boavista FC winning the national title breaking Sporting Praia's consecutive title wins. A month later, Boavista Praia would become the only club to win both the championship and the cup title in the same season.

The 1999 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 20th of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. GD Amarantes won their first and only title. Sporting Clube da Praia would be the only time that a non-winning title would participate in the 2000 CAF Champions League, the criteria for qualification was not continued. No club took part in the 2000 CAF Winners' Cup.

The 2000 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 21st of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. The competition started on 13 August and finished on 10 September, it started and finished later due to the 2000 Amílcar Cabral Cup that took place at Estádio da Várzea from May 4 to 14. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. FC Derby won their second title and later participated in the 2001 CAF Champions League the following year. Sporting Clube da Praia would be the only time that a non-participant would participate in the 2000 CAF Winners Cup, the criteria for qualification was not continued.

ASC Port Autonome won the second title and participated in the 1992 African Cup of Champions Clubs the following year. ASC Diaraf participated in the 1992 CAF Cup, ASEC Ndiambour in the 1992 CAF Winners' Cup and ASC Jeanne d'Arc in the 1992 West African Cup.

The season began in October 1991 and finished on 9 August 1992. ASEC Ndiambour won the first title and participated in the 1993 African Cup of Champions Clubs the following year. The season began in January 10 and finished on 19 September 1999. ASC Jeanne d'Arc won the seventh title and participated in the 2000 CAF Champions League the following year. ASEC Ndiambour participated in the 2000 CAF Cup of Cups and Compagnie sucrière sénégalaise in the 2000 CAF Winners' Cup.

The 2006 Division 1 season was the 41st of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began on 5 January and finished on 15 July. AS Douanes won their third title. AS Douanes along with Port Autonome would compete in the 2007 CAF Champions League the following season. US Ouakam who won the 2006 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2007 CAF Confederation Cup, along with US Gorée. Compagnie sucrière sénégalaise, last place of Group A relegated to the second division with 14 points as they had a penalty that cost them three points by an undetermined reason, US Rail, last place of Group B was relegated with only 9 points.

The 2015–16 Ligue 1 is the 51st season of top-tier football in Senegal and the eighth professional season. The season began on 8 November 2015. Gorée, an island based club though plays at Dakar's stadium clinched their fourth league title and first since 1984 in the league's final week with a 3-0 road win over last-place Olympique Ngor. In the cup competition, NGB ASC Niarry Tally, winner of the 2015 Senegalese Cup will participate for the first time in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup the following season. Gorée participated in Ligue 2 and finished second in the previous season, one of the few clubs who was in the top of second-tier competition last season to win a title of a first tier competition in West Africa.

The 2014-15 Ligue 1 season was the 52nd of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal and the seventh professional season. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began earlier on 6 December and finished later on 26 July. It was the seventh season labelled as a "League". AS Douanes won their sixth and recent title and qualified into the 2016 CAF Champions League. Génération Foot, winner of the 2015 Senegalese Cup qualified for the first time in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.

Senegalese football clubs have participated in African football competitions since 1965 when US Gorée took part in the African Club of Championships Clubs. In total, 20 Senegalese clubs have participated in African competitions. Among the teams that have participated more than once in African competitions Jeanne d'Arc is the only one with more wins than defeats. The biggest success was the participation of Jeanne d'Arc in the final of the CAF Cup, in 1998.
