The 2006 Division 1 season was the 41st of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. [1] The season began on 5 January and finished on 15 July. AS Douanes won their third title. AS Douanes along with Port Autonome would compete in the 2007 CAF Champions League the following season. US Ouakam who won the 2006 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2007 CAF Confederation Cup, along with US Gorée. Compagnie sucrière sénégalaise, last place of Group A relegated to the second division with 14 points as they had a penalty that cost them three points by an undetermined reason, US Rail, last place of Group B was relegated with only 9 points.

The season would feature 18 clubs. 156 matches (144 in the first phase and 12 in the second phase) were played and 244 goals were scored. Yet again since the 1990s, the season would feature the first and second phases, the first phase featured the group system with a total of 72 matches for each group, the second or final phase would consist of four clubs (instead of a playoff as did in the 1990s) with a total of 12 matches, each club played a total of six matches and the highest number of points would decide the season's champion.

ASC Port Autonome was the defending team of the title.

ASC Port Autonome won the second title and participated in the 1992 African Cup of Champions Clubs the following year. The 2002-03 Division 1 season was the 38th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began on 9 November 2002 and finished on 29 June 2003. ASC Jeanne d'Arc won the tenth title and the next club to win two in a row, thus made the club to win the most number of national championship titles until the following season when Diaraf would share it once more with ten in the following season.

The 2003-04 Division 1 season was the 39th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began on 13 December 2003 and finished on 9 October 2004. ASC Diaraf won the tenth title, the next club in Senegal to win the tenth title after ASC Jeanne d'Arc last season. The total number of national championship titles would remain tied with ten until Diaraf retook the totals as they won their eleventh and recent in the 2010 season. Diaraf along with AS Douanes would compete in the 2005 CAF Champions League the following season. ASEC Ndiambour participated in the 2005 CAF Confederation Cup, as AS Douanes also won the 2004 Senegalese Cup and were second place in the league, as Douanes qualified into the 2005 CAF Champions League, Dakar Université Club, the fourth place club participated in the 2005 CAF Confederation Cup.

AS Douanes who won the 2005 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2006 CAF Confederation Cup, along with Compagnie sucrière sénégalaise. The clubs that elevated into Division 1 would relegate do Division 2 as Renaissance sportive de Yoff was 17th and Mboro was 18th.

The 2007 Division 1 season was the 42nd of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began on 13 January and finished on 16 September. It was the last year they played at an amateur level, the following would be at a professional level. AS Douanes won their fourth title, the next club to win two consecutive titles. AS Douanes along with Saloum would compete in the 2008 CAF Champions League the following season. ASC Linguère who won the 2007 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2008 CAF Confederation Cup, along with Casa Sport, third in the final phase. Under an undecided reason, not a single club was relegated as the number of clubs risen to twenty in the following season.

The 2008 Division 1 season was the 43rd of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began in late in the mid year on 26 June and finished late on 23 November. It was the first year they played at a professional level, also it was the final season it was titled "Division", the following year would become a "League". AS Douanes won their fifth title, the next club to win three consecutive titles. AS Douanes along with Casa Sport would compete in the 2009 CAF Champions League the following season. ASC Diaraf who won the 2008 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup, along with ASC Yakaar after defeating ASC HLM in a Confederation Cup qualification barrage.

The 2009 Ligue 1 season was the 44th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal and the second professional season. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began a little earlier on 2 May and finished on 31 October. It was the first season labelled as a "League". ASC Linguère won their first and only title, the next club to win three consecutive titles, and a year later would compete in the 2010 CAF Champions League. ASC Diaraf who won the 2008 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup. Since that season, only one club each would qualify into the continental championship or cup, the winner of each. The West African Cup was again revived and brought two clubs, a second place club from Ligue 1 and a second placed Senegalese Cup club.

The 2012 Ligue 1 season was the 49th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal and the fifth professional season. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began slightly later on 24 December 2011 and finished on 2 September 2012. It was the fourth season labelled as a "League". Casa Sport won their first and only title, and a year later would compete in the 2013 CAF Champions League. ASC HLM the winner of the 2012 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.

The 2015–16 Ligue 1 is the 51st season of top-tier football in Senegal and the eighth professional season. The season began on 8 November 2015. Gorée, an island based club though plays at Dakar's stadium clinched their fourth league title and first since 1984 in the league's final week with a 3-0 road win over last-place Olympique Ngor. In the cup competition, NGB ASC Niarry Tally, winner of the 2015 Senegalese Cup will participate for the first time in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup the following season. Gorée participated in Ligue 2 and finished second in the previous season, one of the few clubs who was in the top of second-tier competition last season to win a title of a first tier competition in West Africa.

The 2009–10 ASC Douanes season were in the top division of Senegalese football. They would be placed third in Group A with 23 points, 5 wins and 13 goals. The goal totals were shared with ASC Port Autonome.

The 2015–16 season was the season of competitive football (soccer) in Senegal.
