The 2009 Ligue 1 season was the 44th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal and the second professional season. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. [1] The season began a little earlier on 2 May and finished on 31 October. It was the first season labelled as a "League" ("Ligue" in French). ASC Linguère won their first and only title, the next club to win three consecutive titles, and a year later would compete in the 2010 CAF Champions League. ASC Diaraf who won the 2008 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup. Since that season, only one club each would qualify into the continental championship or cup, the winner of each. The West African Cup was again revived and brought two clubs, a second place club from Ligue 1 and a second placed Senegalese Cup club.
The season would have feature 20 clubs, 18 clubs competed instead as ASC Thiès and CNEPS Excellence forfeited the season. A total of 128 matches and the playoff system, again, in several seasons, two matches that decided the winner in the most goals, or if a match is scoreless, penalty shootouts. The season scored a total of 227 goals, 101 in Group A and 126 in Group B, no goals scored in the finals which finished in penalty shootouts in the second leg.
AS Douanes again was the defending team of the title.

The season began on 5 January and finished on 15 July. AS Douanes won their third title. AS Douanes along with Port Autonome would compete in the 2007 CAF Champions League the following season. US Ouakam who won the 2006 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2007 CAF Confederation Cup, along with US Gorée. Compagnie sucrière sénégalaise, last place of Group A relegated to the second division with 14 points as they had a penalty that cost them three points by an undetermined reason, US Rail, last place of Group B was relegated with only 9 points.

The season began in late in the mid year on 26 June and finished late on 23 November. It was the first year they played at a professional level, also it was the final season it was titled "Division", the following year would become a "League". AS Douanes won their fifth title, the next club to win three consecutive titles. AS Douanes along with Casa Sport would compete in the 2009 CAF Champions League the following season. ASC Diaraf who won the 2008 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup, along with ASC Yakaar after defeating ASC HLM in a Confederation Cup qualification barrage.

The season began earlier on 20 February and finished on 7 August. It was the second season labelled as a "League". ASC Diaraf won their eleventh and recent title, and a year later would compete in the 2011 CAF Champions League. Touré Kunda who won the 2010 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2011 CAF Confederation Cup. ASC Niarry Tally and ASC HLM participated in the West African Cup for the last time.

The season began earlier on 18 December 2010 and finished on 9 September 2011. It was the third season labelled as a "League". US Ouakam won their first and recent title, and a year later would compete in the 2012 CAF Champions League. ASC Diaraf, second place and the winner of the 2012 Senegalese Cup Casa Sport participated in the 2012 CAF Confederation Cup, it was the last time bringing a second place club, only the cup winner would participate in the following season.

Casa Sport won their first and only title, and a year later would compete in the 2013 CAF Champions League. ASC HLM the winner of the 2012 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.
The 2015–16 Ligue 1 is the 51st season of top-tier football in Senegal and the eighth professional season. The season began on 8 November 2015. Gorée, an island based club though plays at Dakar's stadium clinched their fourth league title and first since 1984 in the league's final week with a 3-0 road win over last-place Olympique Ngor. In the cup competition, NGB ASC Niarry Tally, winner of the 2015 Senegalese Cup will participate for the first time in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup the following season. Gorée participated in Ligue 2 and finished second in the previous season, one of the few clubs who was in the top of second-tier competition last season to win a title of a first tier competition in West Africa.

The season began on 13 January and finished earlier on 19 August and it was a season that competed through a single year. It was the fifth season labelled as a "League". Diambars FC won their only title, and a year later would compete in the 2014 CAF Champions League. ASC Diaraf the winner of the 2013 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.

The season began on 14 December and finished earlier on 21 June. It was the sixth season labelled as a "League". AS Pikine won their only title, and a year later would compete in the 2015 CAF Champions League. Olympique de Ngor the winner of the 2014 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.

The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began earlier on 6 December and finished later on 26 July. It was the seventh season labelled as a "League". AS Douanes won their sixth and recent title and qualified into the 2016 CAF Champions League. Génération Foot, winner of the 2015 Senegalese Cup qualified for the first time in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.
ASC Jeanne d'Arc a Senegalese professional association football club, has gained entry to Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions on several occasions. They have represented Senegal in the Champions League on nine occasions, the now-defunct Cup Winners' Cup on four separate occasions, and the now-defunct CAF Cup on two occasions. Their overall representation is second behind Diaraf but is the Senegalese club who had the highest achievement being a finalist which was the 1998 CAF Cup. Both Jeanne d'Arc and Diaraf are Semifinalists at the CAF Champions League.
