Kavala Football Club is a Greek professional football club based in the city of Kavala, Macedonia. They compete in the Gamma Ethniki, the third tier of the Greek football league system. The club's home ground is the Anthi Karagianni Stadium.
The 1997–98 Alpha Ethniki was the 62nd season of the highest football league of Greece. The season began on 30 August 1997 and ended on 18 May 1998. Olympiacos won their second consecutive and 27th Greek title.

The 2001–02 Gamma Ethniki was the 19th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. Kerkyra was crowned champion, thus winning promotion to Beta Ethniki. Kassandra, Fostiras, Kavala and Atromitos also won promotion due to expansion of Beta Ethniki from 14 to 16 teams.
