1984 saw the 9th season in Saudi Arabian top-flight football. Al-Hilal won the title for the 3rd time and the first since 1979.

Contents

The league was also expanded to feature 12 teams, with no relegation from the season before.

Newly promoted sides Al Ohud and Al Jabalain went straight back down.

Al-Shoulla is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Al Kharj, playing in the Saudi Second Division.

The Saudi Crown Prince's Cup was the Saudi Arabian annual cup competition. It was the oldest domestic football competition in Saudi Arabia, its first edition was held in 1956–57, but was not crowned from 1975 until 1990. The competition consists of teams from the top two tiers of Saudi league football, as well as the competition runs from August until February.

Al-Nassr won the championship for the fourth times after beating outsiders Al-Riyadh in the final.

Al-Shabab became the first club to win the championship for three seasons in succession when defeating Al-Hilal in the championship match. Promoted side Al-Najma were relegated alongside Al-Ta'ee.

Al-Shabab won the championship again for the second time and the second time in a row after winning the end of season championship final on penalties against Al-Ettifaq.

Al-Hilal won the championship for the 6th time in 1990.

Al-Nassr won the championship for the third time in 1989, keeping the title in the city of Riyadh.

In December 1990, the Saudi Federation decided to merge all the football League with the King's Cup in one tournament and the addition of the Golden Box. The Golden Box would be an end of season knockout competition played between the top four teams of the regular league season.

The 1976-77 season saw the start of the first ever top division professional football league in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

1977 was the second season of the Saudi Premier League of football.

The 1978–79 season was the first season involving foreign players. Al-Hilal won the championship for a second time.

1979–80 saw the fourth edition of the Saudi Premier League.

1980 saw the 5th edition of the Saudi Premier League.

1985 saw the dawn of another new era in Saudi Arabian football with the league once again cut into two groups.

The 1986–87 Saudi Premier League season reverted to a regular home and away league format instead of the previous season's group phases.

The Saudi Super Cup is an annual super cup football match organized by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. Founded in 2013 as a two-team competition, the current version has been contested since 2022–23 by four teams: the winners and runners-up of the King Cup and Pro League. From 2013 until 2018, the competition was held the week before the season began in Saudi Arabia. Since the 2019 edition, it has been held mid-season.
