The 1986 Formula Shell Spark Aiders season was the second season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Known as Pilipinas Shell Oilers in the Reinforced Conference and Shell Helix Oilers in the All-Filipino Conference.

After dropping their first two outings in the semifinals against Great Taste by one point in overtime and Ginebra, 106–113 on May 15, coach Freddie Webb decided to resign from his position. [1] Webb was replaced by former Manila Beer coach Edgardo Ocampo.
Perry Young, a Portland third round draft selection in 1985, was a late replacement for the injured Fred Reynolds and played for the Shell's last four games in the Third Conference.
On November 16 which was the last playing date in the quarterfinal round of the Open Conference, Formula Shell recorded the second largest winning margin of 54 points in a 154–100 victory over already qualified Tanduay Rhum Makers, which got another all-time record of 13 triples from import Rob Williams. The win broke the six-game losing streak of the Spark Aiders.
The match was delayed for almost one and a half hours after import Dexter Shouse' powerful dunk late in the second quarter cause the ULTRA north goal to mis-aligned. The Spark Aiders were eliminated from the semifinal round when Great Taste prevailed over Alaska Milk later in the night.

The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The most popular team in the league, it is owned by Ginebra San Miguel, Inc., a subsidiary of the San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The team is one of three PBA ball clubs currently owned by the SMC group of companies, along with the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots and the San Miguel Beermen. Barangay Ginebra has won 15 PBA championships, the second most overall.
The Alaska Aces were a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association since 1986 under the ownership of Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) and the owner of 14 PBA championships, tied with the Magnolia Hotshots for the third-most titles overall. They were one of the most popular teams in the league and the Philippines.
The Shell Turbo Chargers were a Philippine Basketball Association team from 1985 to 2005. It won four PBA championships, two from 1998 to 1999. Shell sold its franchise to PBL team Welcoat Paints in February 2006.
