The 1992 Azerbaijan Top League was the first season of the Azerbaijan Top League, since their independence from the USSR in August 1991, and was contested by 26 clubs. The Season took place between 3 May and 30 October 1992 and was won by Neftchi Baku, with six teams being relegated to the Azerbaijan First Division for the 1993 season. During the '92 season a win was awarded 2 points, a draw 1 and no points were awarded for a defeat.
The 1993 Azerbaijan Top League was the second season of the Azerbaijan Top League and was contested by 20 clubs with 2 points awarded for a win, 1 for a draw and no points were awarded for a defeat. Neftchi Baku were unable to defend their championship, with Karabakh Agdam becoming the champions.

Kapaz won their second title and Qarabağ and the Azerbaijan U-18 team were relegated. Khazri Buzovna pulled out of the league and dissolved after 8 games, as did Kur Nur at the end of the season.

The Turan Tovuz 2011–12 season is Turan Tovuz's nineteenth Azerbaijan Premier League season. They finished the regular season in 12th place, meaning they took part in the Relegation group. They finished this group in 5th place, 11th over the whole league, and were put into the Relegation play-offs against FK Karvan. However this match didn't take place due to a decision by the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan about licensing, deciding that no clubs from the First Division would be promoted. This meant that Turan Tovuz kept their place for the 2012–13 Azerbaijan Premier League season.
The Khazar Lankaran 2012–13 season is Khazar Lankaran's eighth Azerbaijan Premier League season. Khazar Lankaran finished in 8th place in the league, after competing in the Relegation Championship during the second half of the season. They also reached the final of the Azerbaijan Cup, eventually losing to Neftchi Baku on penalties after a 0–0 draw. They competed in the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League, getting knocked out by Lech Poznań of Poland at the second qualifying round stage having previously defeated Nõmme Kalju of Estonia, 4–2, in the first qualifying round. Khazar started the season under Yunis Huseinov, until he resigned on 31 October 2012. Erik Roqueta Capilla was appointed as their caretaker manager on 1 November 2012. On 14 November 2012, Carles Martorell Baqués was appointed as the club's permanent manager, replacing caretaker manager Erik Roqueta Capilla. Baqués resigned as manager on 26 February 2013. On 8 March 2013 John Toshack was announced as the new manager, taking over from 15 March 2013.
The AZAL 2012–13 season was AZAL's eighth Azerbaijan Premier League season and their first season with Vagif Sadygov as manager. They participated in the 2012–13 Azerbaijan Premier League, finishing 7th in the initial 22 game championship. They then went unbeaten, winning nine and drawing one, as the finished top of the Relegation Group with 57 points, 17 points clear of 8th placed Khazar Lankaran. They took part in the 2012–13 Azerbaijan Cup, which they were knocked out of at the second round stage by Simurq.
The Kəpəz 2012–13 season was Kəpəz's third Azerbaijan Premier League season since their promotion back into the top flight. Kapaz started the season under Fuad Ismayilov, but he resigned on August 19, being replaced by Mahmud Gurbanov. Kəpəz finished the season in 12th place, getting relegated to the Azerbaijan First Division for the 2013-14 season, after being bottom of the league for all bar two weeks. They also participated in the 2012–13 Azerbaijan Cup, winning their first-round game against Qala 2-4, before losing to Qarabağ in extra time in the second round.
The Turan Tovuz 2011–12 season was Turan Tovuz's twentieth Azerbaijan Premier League season. Turan Tovuz started the season under the management of Asgar Abdullayev, but he resigned and was replaced by Afghan Talybov on 12 October 2012. Turan Tovuz ended the season in 11th-place resulting in relegation to the Azerbaijan First Division for the 2013–14 season. They also participated in the 2012–13 Azerbaijan Cup getting knocked out in the second round on penalties to Khazar Lankaran after the game ended 1-1.
The Azerbaijan Cup 2012–13 is the 21st season of the annual cup competition in Azerbaijan. It started on 23 October 2012 with ten games of the first round and ended on 28 May 2013 with the final. FC Baku were the defending champions, with twenty-one teams competing in this year's competition.

The Neftchi Baku 2007–08 season was Neftchi Baku's sixteenth Azerbaijan Premier League season. They started the season under the management of Gurban Gurbanov who was replaced by Vlastimil Petržela after the UEFA Cup qualifiers at the start of September. Petržela was replaced by Anatoliy Demyanenko on 5 January 2008. They finished 3rd in the league and were knocked out of the Azerbaijan Cup at the semifinal stage by Inter Baku. Neftchi also took part in the UEFA Cup, being eliminated at the First qualifying round by SV Ried of Austria.
The Qarabağ 2007-08 season was Qarabağ's fifteenth Azerbaijan Premier League season, and their only full season with Rasim Kara as their manager. They finished the season in 5th place, and were knocked out of the Azerbaijan Cup at the Quarterfinal stage by Inter Baku.
The Olimpik Baku 2007–08 season was Olimpik Baku's third Azerbaijan Premier League season and their second season with Asgar Abdullayev as manager. They participated in the 2007–08 Azerbaijan Premier League as well as the 2007–08 Azerbaijan Cup, finishing the league in 2nd, qualifying for a European competition for the first time, and reaching the quarterfinal stage of the cup, where they were eliminated by Khazar Lankaran.
