| See alsoRelated Research Articles The Southeastern Conference (SEC) is an American college athletic conference whose member institutions are located primarily in the South Central and Southeastern United States. Its fourteen members include the flagship public universities of ten states, three additional public land-grant universities, and one private research university. The conference is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. The SEC participates in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I in sports competitions; for football it is part of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A.  The SEC Championship Game is an annual American football game that has determined the Southeastern Conference's season champion since 1992. The championship game pits the SEC East Division regular season champion against the West Division regular season champion. Since 2007, the game has typically been played on the first Saturday of December, and the game has been held in Atlanta since 1994, first at the Georgia Dome, and at Mercedes-Benz Stadium since 2017. The SEC men's basketball tournament is the conference tournament in basketball for the Southeastern Conference (SEC). It is a single-elimination tournament that involves all league schools. Its seeding is based on regular season records. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA men's basketball tournament, however the official conference championship is awarded to the team or teams with the best regular season record.  The Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament is the conference tournament in baseball for the Southeastern Conference (SEC). It is a partially double-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season conference records. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. The SEC Tournament champion is separate from the conference champion. The conference championship is determined solely by regular season record.  The 2007 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament was held at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, AL from May 23 through May 27. After being ranked #1 nationally for most of the season and taking the regular-season SEC crown, Vanderbilt won the tournament and earned the Southeastern Conference's automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. The 1995 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament was held as separate tournaments for the Eastern Division and the Western Division. The Eastern Division tournament was held at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville, TN. The Western Division tournament was held at Dudy Noble Field in Starkville, MS. Both tournaments were held from May 18th through May 21st. Tennessee won its third consecutive Eastern Division tournament and Alabama won the Western Division tournament. The game determined the 2005 football champion of the Southeastern Conference. The Georgia Bulldogs, winners of the Eastern division of the SEC, defeated the LSU Tigers, who won the Western division, by a score of 34-14. This was the second time the two teams have met in the conference championship game. The first time was in 2003 when LSU defeated Georgia by the score 34-13.  The 2009 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament was held at Regions Park in Hoover, AL from May 20th through May 24th. LSU won the tournament and earned the Southeastern Conference's automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. LSU won the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. The 2011 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament began on Friday, June 3, 2011 as part of the 2011 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64 team double elimination tournament concluded with the 2011 College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska on June 29, 2011.  The 2013 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament was held from May 21 through May 26 at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama. The annual tournament determined the tournament champion of the Division I Southeastern Conference in college baseball. The tournament champion, LSU, earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.  The 2014 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament was held from May 20 through May 25 at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama. The annual tournament determines the tournament champion of the Division I Southeastern Conference in college baseball. LSU claimed their record 11th tournament championship and earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. The 1993 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) began in the spring of 1993. The season progressed through the regular season and concluded with the 1993 College World Series. The College World Series, held for the forty seventh time in 1993, consisted of one team from each of eight regional competitions and was held in Omaha, Nebraska at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium as a double-elimination tournament. Florida, the tournament champion, earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.  The 2016 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament was held from May 24 through May 29 at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama. The annual tournament determined the tournament champion of the Division I Southeastern Conference in college baseball.
