1996 Doutta Galla Province state by-election

The 1996 Doutta Galla Province state by-election was held on 30 March 1996 for the Doutta Galla Province seat in the Victorian Legislative Council. The by-election was triggered by the resignation of David White, a member of the Labor Party, who vacated the seat to contest the lower house electorate of Tullamarine in the 1996 state election. Aftermath

Eren’s victory maintained Labor’s representation in the upper house and followed a trend of close contests in metropolitan provinces during the 1990s. [3]
