The 1998 Saint Silvester Road Race (Portuguese : Corrida Internacional de São Silvestre de 1998) was the 74th edition of the Saint Silvester Road Race and held in São Paulo, Brazil, on December 31, 1998. The distance ran by the participating athletes was 15 km.

Marílson Gomes dos Santos is a Brazilian long-distance runner. He won the 2006 and 2008 New York City Marathon, becoming the first South American to win the race. He was selected as the best male performer at the 2009 Brazilian national championships after breaking the meet records in both the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres races.
