The total number of registered voters in the state was 1,466,472. Total number of votes cast was 845,320, while number of valid votes was 842,415. Rejected votes were 3,005. [10] [11] [12]

James Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo is a Nigerian businessman and politician who was governor of Anambra State (1979–1983) during the Second Nigerian Republic and was Senator for Enugu East Senatorial District in Enugu State (1999–2003). In 2003, he ran unsuccessfully in the Nigerian Presidential elections.

The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Enugu State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Enugu State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
