2000 Panamanian census

The 2000 Panamanian census gathered important demographic and economic data for the Panama. It was the tenth national census of population and sixth of housing. It was conducted on May 14, 2000, by the Republic of Panama General Directorate of Statistics and Census. [1]

This was the first time in Florida history that a town was disincorporated by a vote of its citizens. The dissolution ordinance took effect at 8:00 AM on October 22, 2008, at which time the police department was disbanded and all assets became the property of the Bay County Commission. The current census-designated place had a population of 3,148 at the 2020 census, down from 3,397 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Panama City–Panama City Beach, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Palmira is a corregimiento in Boquete District, Chiriquí Province, Panama. It has a land area of 57.5 square kilometres (22.2 sq mi) and had a population of 1,776 as of 2010, giving it a population density of 30.9 inhabitants per square kilometre (80/sq mi). Its population as of 1990 was 2,043; its population as of 2000 was 1,513. There are three urban areas with some limited housing density. They are Palmira Centro, Palmira Arriba and Palmira Abajo. Palmira has excellent soil, abundant rivers and creeks and grows a variety of vegetables, fruits and coffee. There is also some meat production.

As of the 2020 census, the MSA had a population of 286,993, up from 235,865 at the 2010 census.
