The 2002 Singapore Open (officially known as the Yonex-Sunrise Singapore Open 2002 for sponsorship reasons) was a five-star badminton tournament that took place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore, from August 19 to August 25, 2002. [1] [2] The total prize money on offer was US$170,000.

The Hong Kong Open is an annual badminton tournament held in Hong Kong since 1982, but it did not take place annually. It is organized by Hong Kong Badminton Association and it became one of the Super Series tournament in 2007. In 2008, Wang Chen became the first home player to win the Hong Kong Open title.

The scoring system changed to the first player to reach seven points over five sets. This change was brought in for the benefit of the viewing public and television cameras but it proved to be unpopular and soon reverted to the original scoring system.

The BWF Super Series Finals was an annual badminton tournament held at the end of the year where the players with the most points from that calendar year's twelve events of the BWF Super Series competed for total prize money of at least US$ 1,000,000. The Indonesia Masters is an international badminton tournament in BWF World Tour Super 500. Formerly known as the Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold, it was first held in 2010 in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, and change its venue in different cities every year. The tournament categorized as BWF Grand Prix Gold event, and offered total prize money of US$120,000. The tournament changed its title to Indonesian Masters in 2014. Beiwen Zhang is a Chinese-born American badminton player who is a singles specialist. She won the women's singles title at the 2021 Pan Am Championships and at the 2023 Pan American Games.

The Bangladesh International is an international badminton tournament held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and organized by the Bangladesh Badminton Federation. The tournament was established in June 2002 and was part of the Asian Satellite. In 2011, the tournament was graded as the BWF International Series with the total prize money equaling US$5,000, and later in 2013, it was upgraded to the International Challenge, providing a total prize money of US$15,000. In 2019, the tournament will be dedicated to Bangladesh's "Father of the Nation," Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
