The 2004 Men's European Volleyball League was the first edition of the European Volleyball League, organised by Europe's governing volleyball body, the CEV. The final Four was held in Opava, Czech Republic from 10 to 11 July 2004.

The 24th Men's European Volleyball Championship was the first continental volleyball competition hosted by two nations – Serbia and Montenegro and Italy, namely in their respective capitals, Belgrade and Rome. Championship took place from September 2 to September 11, 2005.

The number one to six from the 1999 edition of the Men's European Volleyball Championship — Italy, Yugoslavia, Russia, France, Czech Republic and the Netherlands — were automatically qualified for the 2001 edition. The four group winners qualified, and the two best numbers two.

The 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship was the nineteenth edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship, contested by the men's national teams under the age of 21 of the members of the FIVB, the sport's global governing body. The tournament was held in Brno and Ceské Budejovice, Czech Republic from 23 June to 2 July 2017. 16 teams participated.

Unlike previous seasons, the tournament had two groups: the Golden League, featuring twelve teams, and the Silver League, featuring eight teams.
The 2018 Boys' Youth European Volleyball Championship was played in Czech Republic and Slovakia from 7 to 15 April 2018. The top six teams qualified for the 2019 U19 World Championship.
