Tun Abdullah bin Ahmad Badawi is a Malaysian politician who served as the 5th Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2003 to 2009. He was also the President of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the largest political party in Malaysia, and led the governing Barisan Nasional parliamentary coalition. The United Malays National Organisation Jawi: ڤرتوبوهن‌ كبڠسائن ملايو برساتو is Malaysia's largest, main Malay and national political party. Often referred to as Malaysia's "Grand Old Party", it is a founding member of the Barisan Nasional coalition which, with its predecessor the Alliance, had been the government of Malaysia and dominated the country's politics from independence to the defeat in the 2018 Malaysian general election in May 2018. Until then, all of Malaysia's Prime Ministers had been members of UMNO, until Mahathir Mohamad became the first prime minister from Pakatan Harapan, and the first prime minister to have tenures with two different parties. Following Mahathir's resignation in 2020, the party subsequently rejoined the government with nine ministerial positions in the Muhyiddin cabinet.

Shahrir bin Abdul Samad is a Malaysian politician who was the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (2008-2009), a Member of Parliament of Malaysia and the former chairman of the Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club (BNBBC). He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the largest political component party in the former ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. The Pengkalan Pasir by-election was held on 6 December 2005 in the Pengkalan Pasir state assembly constituency of the PAS-governed state of Kelantan, Malaysia. Nominations were held on 27 November 2005, and the election was contested by Hanifa Ahmad of Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), Hanafi Mamat of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, and Ibrahim Ali, an independent candidate. The by-election was necessitated after the death of the incumbent, Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Jaafar from PAS, on 31 October because of cancer. Wan Abdul Aziz defeated Hanafi by 55 votes in the 2004 general election. In 2005, there are 18,411 eligible voters and 195 registered postal voters; 94.8% Malay and 5.2% Chinese in Pengkalan Pasir.

Dato' Sri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz is a Malaysian politician who served as the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of legal affairs, Minister of Entrepreneur Development, Deputy Minister of Finance I and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Ministers Mahathir Mohamad, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Najib Razak as well as former Ministers Abang Abu Bakar, Anwar Ibrahim, Mahathir Mohamad, Mustapa Mohamed and Daim Zainuddin from May 1995 to the collapse of the BN administration in May 2018. He has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Padang Rengas since March 2004. He is an alumnus of Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK). He is a member and Division Chairman of Padang Rengas of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the ruling BN coalition which is aligned with another ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. However, on 12 January 2021, he publicly and personally announced his withdrawal of support and he was no longer aligned with PN as an MP although his coalition is, resulting in collapse of the PN administration led by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin after PN lost the majority support by commanding the support of only 109 out of 220 MPs in the Dewan Rakyat, Parliament. His withdrawal of support was the third one from his coalition after the withdrawals of support of Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub.

1988 Malaysian constitutional crisis Political crisis

The 1988 Malaysian constitutional crisis was a series of events that began with United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party elections in 1987 and ended with the suspension and the eventual removal of the Lord President of the Supreme Court, Tun Salleh Abas, from his seat. The Supreme Court in the years leading up to 1988 had been increasingly independent of the other branches of the government. Matters then came to a head when Mahathir Mohamad, who believed in the supremacy of the executive and legislative branches, became Prime Minister. Many saw his eventual sacking of Salleh Abas and two other Supreme Court judges as the end of judicial independence in Malaysia.

Tan Sri Dato' Haji Mahiaddin bin Md Yasin is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia since 1 March 2020. He served as the 10th Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs and in many other Cabinet positions under former Prime Ministers Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Najib Razak and Mahathir Mohamad, from May 1995 to February 2020. He has been a founding member and 1st President of the Homeland Fighters' Party (PEJUANG) since party foundation in August 2020. He was a founding member, 1st Deputy President and State Chairman of Kedah of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) from party foundation in September 2016 to his membership termination in May 2020 and too, State Chairman of Kedah of its former coalition, Pakatan Harapan (PH) opposition coalition. He was also a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, till he left the party with Mahathir in 2016 to found BERSATU. He is one of the two Menteris Besar of Malaysia who represented two different political parties and coalitions.

Tan Sri Dato' Sri Mohd Radzi bin Sheikh Ahmad is a former Malaysian footballer, lawyer and politician. He was the Member of Parliament of Malaysia for the seat of Kangar in Perlis twice, currently served as a senator in Dewan Negara. He was also the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for Legal Affairs (2004-2006) and Minister of Home Affairs (2006-2008). Dato' Sri Azalina binti Othman Said is a Malaysian politician who has served as Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration since July 2020. She created history by being the first female holder of the deputy speakership. She has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Pengerang since March 2004. She is a member of the Supreme Council of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the major component party of the ruling PN coalition. Abd Latiff bin Ahmad is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Minister of Rural Development in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin since March 2020 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mersing since November 1999. He served as the Deputy Minister of Defence, Deputy Minister of Health and Deputy Minister of Human Resources in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Ministers Mahathir Mohamad, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Najib Razak from December 1999 to May 2013. Reezal Merican bin Naina Merican is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Minister of Youth and Sports in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin since March 2020 after the implosion of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration in February 2020. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kepala Batas since May 2013 after the retirement of 5th and former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as the MP from politics.
