Championship final

The Newfoundland Rock (Eastern Division champions) defeated the Saskatchewan Prairie Fire (Western Division Champions) 26–13 in the Championship Final, played in Regina, Saskatchewan on 13 August 2005 [2] to win the MacTier Cup.

The Prairie Fire was a Canadian rugby union team based in Regina, Saskatchewan. The team played in the Rugby Canada Super League and the Rugby Canada National Junior Championship, which followed once the former was disbanded. The Fire drew most of their players from the Saskatchewan Rugby Union, one of fourteen Rugby Unions that had representative teams in the RCSL.

Mounts Bay RFC was a Cornish rugby club formed in December 1999 and based in Penzance, England, which folded in July 2009. Initially formed as an offshoot from Penzance & Newlyn RFC, the club operated as an independent club. Mounts Bay were promoted at the end of the 2007-08 season and competed in National Division Two in the 2008-09 season. However, the club folded in the summer of 2009 due to financial problems and withdrew from the league structure altogether.

Sports in Saskatchewan include ice skating, speed skating, curling, curling bonspiels, snowboarding, snow golf, broomball, ice hockey and badminton. Summer sports abound: among these are school track and field days, community rodeos, golf tournaments, and sporting events such as baseball, softball, and snowmobile, snowmobile rallies. School teams usually feature baseball, basketball, field hockey, association football (soccer), lacrosse, football, rugby, and wrestling. Popular individual sports include auto racing, boxing, cycling, golf, hiking, horse racing, ice skating, skateboarding, skiing, swimming, tennis, triathlon, track and field, and water sports. Other sports include tobogganing, sailing, rowing, trap shooting, lawn bowling, and horseshoes. Saskatchewan speed skaters have enjoyed recent success in the Olympics in Salt Lake City and Turin. The Saskatchewan Olympic medalists include Catriona Le May Doan, Jason Parker and Justin Warsylewicz. Saskatchewan's most loved sport is Curling. They have several club teams for it and also have fans cheering their every move.

The National Ringette League (NRL), (French: Ligue Nationale de Ringuette, LNR), is the premier sports league for the sport of ringette in North America and Canada's national league for elite ringette players aged 18+. All of the NRL's elite athletes are women, one of ringette's distinctive features and therefore the NRL is not a feminized version of a more well-known men's sport or league such as professional women's ice hockey. The NRL is semi-professional and operates as a showcase league for ringette in North America. It is the continent's first and only winter team sports league whose entire elite athlete roster involves players who are women rather than men and is not a subsidiary of a men's league. The NRL was founded in 2002 and began play the following year with November 2004 marking its official inaugural season. Players are selected from the league to help form Canada's national ringette teams. Today, some NRL games are livestreamed on YouTube.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Canadian Rugby Championship</span>

The Canadian Rugby Championship (CRC) was a Canadian amateur rugby union competition, partially funded by the World Rugby. It was the highest level of men's domestic rugby in Canada. Four representative teams from regions across Canada competed for the MacTier Cup. The CRC was started in 2009 by Rugby Canada and was held annually from August to September. Rugby Canada also held CRC tournaments for under-19 men, under-20 women, and senior women.
