Roger Federer won Wimbledon for a third consecutive year by defeating Andy Roddick in the final for the second year in a row, 6–2, 7–6(7–2), 6–4 to win the Gentlemen's Singles tennis title at the 2005 Wimbledon Championships.
Fourth-seeded Marat Safin defeated Lleyton Hewitt in the final, 1–6, 6–3, 6–4, 6–4 to win the Men's Singles tennis title at the 2005 Australian Open. It was Safin's second and last Grand Slam title, having also won the 2000 U.S. Open. Hewitt was the first Australian player to reach the final since Pat Cash in 1988.
Rafael Nadal defeated Mariano Puerta in the final 6–7(6–8), 6–3, 6–1, 7–5 in his first French Open appearance, as well as his first major final, to capture the Men's Singles tennis title at the 2005 French Open. Nadal became the first player to win the French Open in his first try since Mats Wilander in 1982, and the youngest champion since Michael Chang in 1989.
Second-seeded Andre Agassi defeated Rainer Schüttler 6–2, 6–2, 6–1 in the final to win the Men's Singles tennis title at the 2003 Australian Open. This was Agassi's eighth and last Grand Slam title, his first having come at the 1992 Wimbledon Championships. Agassi's win in the final was his 21st consecutive match win at the Australian Open as he won the title in 2000 and 2001.

Four-time defending champion Roger Federer defeated Andy Murray in the final 6–2, 7–5, 6–2 to win the Men's Singles tennis title at the 2008 US Open. It was Federer's 13th Grand Slam title and his only successful title defense in majors that year, after losing the Australian Open and Wimbledon titles, now moved to second place on the all time men's singles Grand Slam wins list, passing Roy Emerson. This was Federer's last US Open title.
