Municipal election in Brno was held as part of Czech municipal elections in 2006. The Civic Democratic Party received highest number of votes but the Czech Social Democratic Party formed coalition and Romand Onderka became new Mayor. [1]

Czech Social Democratic Party Czech political party

The Czech Social Democratic Party is a social-democratic political party in the Czech Republic. It holds 15 seats in the Chamber of Deputies following the 2017 legislative election in which the party lost 35 seats. The party has been led by Jan Hamáček since 2018. It has been a junior coalition party within a minority cabinet since June 2018, and was a senior coalition party from 1998 to 2006 and from 2013 to 2017.

KDU-ČSL Czech political party

KDU-ČSL, often shortened to lidovci is a Christian-democratic political party in the Czech Republic. The party has taken part in almost every Czech Government since 1990 and have participated in both left-wing and right-wing coalition governments. In the June 2006 election, the party won 7.2% of the vote and 13 out of 200 seats; but in the 2010 election, this dropped to 4.4% and they lost all their seats. The party regained its parliamentary standing in the 2013 legislative election, winning 14 seats in the new parliament, thereby becoming the first party ever to return to the Chamber of Deputies after dropping out.

SNK European Democrats

The SNK European Democrats is a political party in the Czech Republic, led by Zdeňka Marková. The first regular chairperson of this party was Jana Hybášková. The party was created in January 2006 by the merger of two Czech political parties – SNK Union of Independents, led by the former Foreign Minister Josef Zieleniec, and the European Democrats, led by Jan Kasl, the former Mayor of the City of Prague.

2010 Czech municipal elections

Municipal elections were held in the Czech Republic on 15 and 16 October. The Civic Democratic Party won the most seats, although it lost in Prague. The elections were a success for the Czech Social Democratic Party and TOP 09, and were considered a revival for the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party.

Prague municipal election in 1998 was held as part of 1998 Czech municipal elections. Civic Democratic Party has received highest number of votes and formed coalition with Czech Social Democratic Party. Jan Kasl became mayor of Prague.

The Plzeň municipal election of 2006 was held as a part of Czech municipal elections, 2006. It was held on 20 and 21 October 2006. The Civic Democratic Party (ODS) won the election with 45% of the votes. Pavel Rödl then became the new Mayor when ODS formed a coalition with the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU-ČSL) and the Right Choice for Plzeň (PVP). The incumbent Mayor, Miroslav Kalous, didn't participate in the election.

2018 Czech Senate election

Senate elections were held in the Czech Republic on 5 and 6 October 2018 alongside municipal elections, with a second round held on 12 and 13 October 2018. The Conservative Civic Democratic Party (ODS) won the election with 10 seats. Governing parties ANO 2011 and the Czech Social Democratic Party were heavily defeated, winning only 1 seat each. The Communist Party lost its last seat in the Senate when Václav Homolka failed to be re-elected, meaning the party would be without representation in the Senate for the first time in the history of Czech Republic. The election was considered the first major win for the opposition to Andrej Babiš' Cabinet. Commentators including Josef Kopecký also noted ODS confirmed their position as the main opposition party, ahead of the Czech Pirate Party.

Masaryk Democratic Party

The Masaryk Democratic Party is a centrist political party in the Czech Republic, founded on 25 May 1992. The party follows the legacy of the first Czechoslovak President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk and considers itself a successor and to the tradition of the historical Czech Realist Party.
