The 2006 First Division season was the 27th season for the amateur competition, of the first-tier football in Guinea-Bissau. The tournament was organized by the Football Federation of Guinea-Bissau, [1] with the season beginning on 14 January and ending on 14 July. Balantas won their twelfth title and finished with 50 points and for financial reasons did not qualify and competed in the 2007 CAF Champions League the following season. Portos de Bissau won the 2006 Guinea-Bissau Cup, instead, the cup finalist Benfica Bissau participated in the 2007 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.

SC de Bissau was again the defending team of the title. Balantas finished with 50 points and the only club who never lost a match in the season, Mavegro scored the most goals and numbered 37.

The season began on 13 December 2003 and finished on 9 October 2004. ASC Diaraf won the tenth title, the next club in Senegal to win the tenth title after ASC Jeanne d'Arc last season. The total number of national championship titles would remain tied with ten until Diaraf retook the totals as they won their eleventh and recent in the 2010 season. Diaraf along with AS Douanes would compete in the 2005 CAF Champions League the following season. ASEC Ndiambour participated in the 2005 CAF Confederation Cup, as AS Douanes also won the 2004 Senegalese Cup and were second place in the league, as Douanes qualified into the 2005 CAF Champions League, Dakar Université Club, the fourth place club participated in the 2005 CAF Confederation Cup.

The season began on March 1 and finished on June 24. The Real de Banjul won the tenth title after finishing with 32 points, due to financial concerns, they did not participate by the GFA in the 2008 CAF Champions League the following season. Gambia Ports Authority, winner of the 2007 Gambian Cup and qualified and competed in the 2008 CAF Confederation Cup. It was the last season featuring ten clubs, two additional clubs would be added in the following season neither the last two clubs were relegated.

The 2008 First Division season was the 40th of the amateur competition of the first-tier football in the Gambia. The competition was governed by the Gambian Football Association (GFA). The season began on February 24 and finished on July 13. The Real de Banjul won the tenth title after finishing with 39 points and qualified into the 2009 CAF Champions League the following season. Wallidan FC was also winner of the 2008 Gambian Cup, runner up was Samger, not even that club qualified and competed in the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup due to financial problems. It was the first season featuring twelve clubs, up from ten last season. The last two positions received relegation into the GFA League Second Division in the following season, they were the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) and Interior FC.

The 2009 GFA League First Division season was the 41st of the amateur competition of the first-tier football in the Gambia. The competition was governed by the Gambian Football Association (GFA). The season began on February 20 and finished earlier on May 23. The (Gambian) Armed Forces FC won the second title after finishing with 44 points and qualified into the 2010 CAF Champions League the following season. Wallidan FC was also winner of the 2009 Gambian Cup, runner up was Samger, not even that club qualified and competed in the 2010 CAF Confederation Cup due to financial problems. It was the first season featuring twelve clubs, up from ten last season. The last two positions received relegation into the GFA League Second Division in the following season, they were Africell and Tallinding United.

The 2013 First Division season was the 34th of the amateur competition of the first-tier football in Guinea-Bissau. The tournament was organized by the Football Federation of Guinea-Bissau. The season began on 12 January and finished on 16 June. Balantas won their fourth and recent title and finished with 40 points and later competed in the 2004 CAF Champions League the following season. Estrela de Cantanhez won the 2013 Guinea-Bissau Cup and later competed in the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.
