The 2007 African Olympic Qualifier was the first edition of the African field hockey qualification tournament for the Summer Olympics for men and women. It was held from 14 to 22 July 2007 in Nairobi, Kenya. The winners of each tournament qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

2007 All-Africa Games were supposed to be the African qualifier for 2008 Olympics, but as the host country Algeria lacks suitable venues, field hockey was not part of the games, forcing the African Hockey Federation to hold a separate tournament. [1]

The Men’s field hockey Qualifying Tournament for the 2008 Summer Olympics were qualification tournaments to determine the final three spots for the 2008 Summer Olympics. The qualifying tournaments, which involved 18 teams divided into three groups, with three separate qualifying tournaments, were held in New Zealand, Chile and Japan, at different times in 2008. The men's tournament in volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics was the 12th edition of the event, organized by the world's governing body, the FIVB, in conjunction with the IOC. It was held in Beijing, China from 10 to 24 August 2008.

Qualification for the men's tournament at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Eight teams qualified for the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The top six teams in the IIHF World Ranking after the 2008 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships received automatic berths into the Ice Hockey event. Lower ranked teams had an opportunity to qualify for the event. Teams ranked 13th and below were divided into two groups where they played in a first qualification round in September 2008. The two group winners from the round advanced to the second qualification round, where the teams ranked 7th through 12th joined them. In the second qualifying round, played in November 2008, the teams were again divided into two groups. The two group winners China and Slovakia advanced to the Olympic Ice Hockey Tournament.

The qualification for the 2008 Men's Olympic Volleyball Tournament was held from 1 September 2007 to 8 June 2008.

The qualification for the 2012 men's Olympic volleyball tournament was held from 13 August 2011 to 10 June 2012.

Field hockey at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Womens tournament

The women's field hockey tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics will be the eleventh edition of the field hockey event for women at the Summer Olympics. It will take place from 25 July to 7 August 2020. All games will be played at the Oi Hockey Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.

Qualification for the men's tournament at the 2018 Winter Olympics was determined by the IIHF World Ranking following the 2015 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships. The host along with the top eight teams in the world ranking received automatic berths into the Olympics, while all other teams had an opportunity to qualify for the remaining three spots in the Olympics. This was the fourth time world rankings were used but the first time that the championships three years prior was used as the final determination.

Twelve teams qualified for the men's field hockey at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Each of the Continental Champions from five confederations received an automatic berth. Japan as the host nation qualified automatically. In addition, the remaining six nations were determined by an Olympic qualification event. The 2018–19 Women's FIH Series Finals were the second stage of the 2018–19 edition of the Hockey Series. It was held in June 2019.

The Women's African Olympic Qualifier is the qualification tournament for the women's field hockey event at the Summer Olympics. It is held every four years and was introduced after field hockey was removed from the All-Africa Games program. The first edition was held in Nairobi, Kenya simultaneously with the 2007 All-Africa Games.
