General elections were held in Sint Eustatius on 20 April 2007. The result was a victory for the Democratic Party, which won four of the five seats in the Island Council. [1]

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey has 600 members, elected for a four-year term by a system based on closed list proportional representation according to the D'Hondt method. To participate in the distribution of seats, a party must obtain at least 10% of the votes cast at the national level as well as a percentage of votes in the contested district according to a complex formula and votes for parties not seated are redistributed to the party that won the most votes. Independent candidates who receive more than 10% of the votes cast in a province are also seated and in the 2007 and 2011 elections members of the Democratic Society/Peace and Democracy Party evaded the threshold by running as independents and winning about 5% of the seats.

The Democratic Party Sint Maarten is a political party in Sint Maarten. The party has long been associated with its powerful leader and business tycoon Claude Wathey. Wathey stepped down from his leadership post in 1992.

The Democratic Party is a political party in Sint Eustatius with two seats in the 5-seat island council. In 2011, the party obtained 2 seats in the first elections after Sint Eustatius became part of the Netherlands upon the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2011. However, their Island Council representative Reuben Merkman left the DP in 2014 and became an independent council member.

He was promoted to be Minister for Home Affairs in August 2002. Ruto has also previously served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Constitutional Reform in the 9th Parliament.

The United Democrats is a political party on Sint Maarten. The party was originally a merger between the Democratic Party (DP) and the United People's Party (UP). The UP left and re-established itself in 2020.

Saba Island Council

The legislative body of the Public Entity Saba is called the Island Council. The Island Council consists of five members and elections take place every four years. The Island Council appoints and supervises the Commissioners in the Executive Council. The Island Council is chaired by the Island Governor.
