The 2008 Dominican Republic Volleyball League was the 2nd official season of the event. The SEDEFIR Cup was dedicated to Daniel Toribio. [1] Distrito Nacional's team won their second title in both genders. [2] [3]

Señorita República Dominicana 1979 was held on December 20, 1978. There were 28 candidates who competed for the national crown. The winner represented the Dominican Republic at the Miss Universe 1979. The Señorita República Dominicana Mundo entered Miss World 1979.

Evelyn Carrera Pichardo is a retired female volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, wearing the number #5 jersey. There she ended up in eleventh place with the Dominican Republic women's national team. Carrera played as a libero.

Brenda Castillo is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic and plays as a libero. She was a member of the Dominican Republic national team that won fifth place in the 2012 Summer Olympics, while she was named the tournament's Best Libero. She played in the 2014 World Championship reaching also the fifth place and ranking 17th in the 2010 World Championship and the 2011 FIVB World Cup where her national team ranked eight and the 2015 FIVB World Cup, winning the Best Libero individual award and ranking in seventh place.
Lisvel Elisa Eve-Castillo is a female volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who played for the Women's National Team at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The Miss Mundo Dominicana 2007 pageant was held on July 14, 2007. Only 24 candidates competed for the national crown. The chosen winner represented the Dominican Republic at the Miss World 2007. They selected 2 delegates would be elected from each regions. Then they chose a delegate from each region and would get sashed with the name of the region and automatically would be in the Final 6. The first runner up represented the Dominican Republic in Miss América Latina 2008.
Niverka Dharlenis Marte Frica is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic. She played the 2012 Summer Olympics with the Dominican Republic national team ranking in fifth place. She also played the 2010 and the 2014 World Championship earning the 17th place and the fifth place and the 2011 and the 2015 FIVB World Cup with her national team ranking in the eight and seventh place. She won the bronze medal in the 2015 Pan American Games.
Rossy Dahiana Burgos Herrera is a volleyball and beach volleyball player from the Dominican Republic. She won the bronze medal with the women's national team at the 2005 Pan American Cup in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She plays as a wing-spiker.
Bethania Almánzar Sosa is a female beach volleyball and volleyball player from the Dominican Republic. She twice won the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit 2007, partnering Margarita Suero.
The Miss República Dominicana 2010 was celebrated on April 17, 2010 in the Teatro La Fiesta, Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo. The winner will represent Dominican Republic in Miss Universe 2010. The Miss RD Continente Americano will enter Miss Continente Américano 2010 and the Miss RD Hispanoamericana will enter Reina Hispanoamericana 2010. The 3rd Runner Up will enter Miss Worldovision 2010. The 4th Runner Up will enter Miss Global Teen 2010. The 5th Runner Up would enter Miss Intercontinental 2010.
Brayelin Elizabeth Martínez is a Dominican volleyball player who won the bronze medal in the 2015 Pan American Games as a member of the Dominican Republic national team. She played in the 2014 Senior World Championship and the 2011 and 2015 FIVB World Cup.
Winifer María Fernández Pérez is a Dominican female volleyball player. With her club Mirador she competed at the 2015 FIVB Club World Championship. She became well known after a video and later some photos of her playing and training, and personal photos of her--some of them fake--went viral in July 2016.
Elnis Palomino Castillo is a Dominican Republic male volleyball player who competed with the Dominican club La Romana in the 2013 FIVB Club World Championship.
Ana Esther Lara is a retired Dominican Republic female volleyball player. She was part of the Dominican Republic women's national volleyball team. She participated in the 2006 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix.
