The 2008 Paris Municipal elections were held on 9 and 16 March 2008, at the same time as other French municipal elections. The incumbent Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë (PS), faced UMP candidate Françoise de Panafieu who was chosen to head his party's list in a primary election held in 2006. The MoDem MEP and François Bayrou supporter, Marielle de Sarnez, was the centrist candidate.
Control of the 20 arrondissements of the French capital was also to be decided in the elections. Of these, the PS-Greens-MRC controlled 12 (10 PS, 1 Green, 1 MRC) and the UMP eight. 163 councillors were due to be elected in the 20 arrondissements. As a result of the election, Bertrand Delanoë was re-elected with a larger majority. The left controls 99 seats against 63 for the right, two for other right-wing dissidents, and one MoDem.

Bertrand Delanoë is a French retired politician who served as Mayor of Paris from 2001 to 2014. A member of the Socialist Party (PS), he previously served in the National Assembly from 1981 to 1986 and Senate from 1995 until 2001.
The Democratic Movement is a centre to centre-right political party in France, whose main ideological trends are liberalism and Christian democracy, and that is characterised by a strong pro-Europeanist stance. MoDem was established by François Bayrou to succeed the Union for French Democracy (UDF) and contest the 2007 legislative election, after his strong showing in the 2007 presidential election. Initially named the Democratic Party, the party was renamed "Democratic Movement", because there was already a small Democratic Party in France.
The Centrists, known as The Centrists – New Centre since 2018, formerly known as New Centre and European Social Liberal Party, is a centre-right political party in France formed by the members of the Union for French Democracy (UDF) – including 18 of the 29 members of the UDF in the National Assembly) – who did not agree with François Bayrou's decision to found the Democratic Movement (MoDem) and wanted to support the newly-elected president Nicolas Sarkozy, continuing the UDF–Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) alliance.
The French municipal elections of 2008 were held on 9 and 16 March to elect the municipal councils of France's 36,782 communes. The first task of each newly constituted municipal council was to elect a mayor.
Municipal and mayoral elections will be held in Lyon in March 2008, at the same time as other municipal elections. The current mayor of Lyon Gérard Collomb (PS) should have faced UMP candidate Dominique Perben and MoDem candidate Christophe Geourjon, who finally chose to join the Perben list. Azouz Begag declined to seek the MoDem nomination. Another MoDem candidate was selected by François Bayrou a month before the elections as head of the MoDem list to replace Geourjon and other defectors both to the UMP-led and the PS-led lists.
Françoise de Panafieu is a French politician, member of The Republicans (LR) party and mayor of the 17th arrondissement of Paris between 2001 and 2008.
Ana María "Anne" Hidalgo Aleu is a Spanish-French politician who has been the Mayor of Paris since 2014, the first woman to hold the office. She is a member of the Socialist Party.
Georges Sarre was a French politician and leader of the Citizen and Republican Movement.
Regional elections were held in France on 14 and 21 March 2010. At stake were the presidencies of each of France's 26 régions, which, though they do not have legislative autonomy, manage sizable budgets.
Clémentine Autain is a French politician and journalist who has represented Seine-Saint-Denis's 11th constituency in the National Assembly since the 2017 French legislative election. Autain is the daughter of singer Yvan Dautin and actress Dominique Laffin. A feminist activist, she is co-editor of the monthly publication Regards with Roger Martelli and co-secretary of the Fondation Copernic, a "circle of reflection" critical of liberalism.
Jean Peyrelevade is a senior French center-left politician and business leader.
The 2014 Paris Municipal elections took place on 23 and 30 March 2014, at the same time as other French municipal elections.
The French municipal elections of 2014 were held on 23 March of that year with a second round of voting, where necessary, on 30 March to elect the municipal councils of France's communes. The first task of each newly constituted municipal council is to elect a mayor for that commune.
Ian Boucard is a French politician who has represented the 1st constituency of the Territoire de Belfort department in the National Assembly since February 2018, previously holding the seat from June to December 2017. A member of The Republicans (LR), the Constitutional Council nullified his first election, a decision that triggered a by-election in early 2018 in which he was reelected.
Jacques Boutault is a French politician member of Europe Écologie Les Verts (EELV) and the mayor of the 2nd arrondissement of Paris between 2001 and 2020.
The 2020 Paris Municipal election was a municipal election that took place in Paris on 15 March 2020, alongside other French municipal elections. The second round, which was originally scheduled to be held on 22 March 2020, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in France. The second round then took place on 28 June 2020, which saw Anne Hidalgo re-elected as Mayor of Paris.
Julien Bargeton is a French politician who has served as a Senator for Paris since 2017. A former member of the Socialist Party (PS), which he left in June 2017 to join La République En Marche! (LREM), he previously served as Deputy Mayor of Paris for Transport (2012–2014) under Bertrand Delanoë and for Finance (2014–2017) under Anne Hidalgo.
Sylvie Wieviorka, is a French psychiatrist, academic, and politician.
The 2001 Paris Municipal Elections were held on the 11th and 18 March 2001, alongside many other municipal elections throughout France, to elect the Mayor of Paris. Incumbent Mayor Jean Tiberi faced Bertrand Delanoë of the Socialist Party, a Paris councilor and member of the Senate. Tiberi also faced a challenger from the right in Philippe Séguin, the former president of France's National Assembly due to Tiberi having split off from the RPR to form his own dissident faction within the Council of Paris. Tiberi also faced green city councilor Yves Contassot. Due to the division within the RPR, the center-right vote was split which allowed Delanoë's Socialists to come to power for the first time since an independent Paris Mayorship has been re-established in 1977.
Jean-Pierre Charles Lecoq is a French politician.
