Minnesota Duluth (28–8–2) is seeded Number 2 and the Bulldogs will host the New Hampshire Wildcats (19–8–5) on Saturday, March 13 at 2:00 pm central standard time. The Golden Gophers (25–8–5) are the number 3 seed, and will host the Clarkson Golden Eagles (23–11–5), on March 13 at 4:00 pm central standard time. Minnesota Duluth won the Frozen Four for the first three years that the tournament was held (2001, 2002 and 2003). The Golden Gophers proceeded to win the next two Frozen Four tournaments (2004 and 2005). [16] Neither team has won since.
Maria Elisabeth Rooth is a retired Swedish ice hockey player. She is the only University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey player to have her jersey retired. Rooth was alternate captain and one of the most experienced players on the Swedish national team beginning in 1996.
The 2010 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament involved eight schools in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of women's NCAA Division I college ice hockey. The quarterfinals were held at the home sites of the seeded teams and the Frozen Four was hosted by the University of Minnesota at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The 2009–10 Minnesota Golden Gophers women's hockey team represented the University of Minnesota in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's hockey season. The Golden Gophers were coached by Brad Frost and played their home games at Ridder Arena. The University of Minnesota hosted the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Ice hockey Tournament's championship game on March 21, 2010 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis. It marked the third time that Minneapolis hosted the Frozen Four. The Golden Gophers are a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and attempted to win their fourth NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Championship.
The Bemidji State Beavers women's ice hockey team represented Bemidji State University and participated in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. This was the Beavers final season in the John S. Glas Field House. For the 2010–11 season, the Beavers will move into the Bemidji Regional Events Center. Goaltender Zuzana Tomčíková represented her homeland of Slovakia in Ice hockey at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Bemidji State doubled their win production compared to the 2008–09 season, when the Beavers claimed only six victories.
The 2009–10 Western Collegiate Hockey Association women's ice hockey season marked the continuation of the annual tradition of competitive ice hockey among Western Collegiate Hockey Association members.
The Badgers were led by Mark Johnson, who was in his fifth season with the Badgers. The club had a 31–1–4 overall record, and a 23–1–4 conference record. The Badgers won their second straight WCHA regular season title and NCAA title.
Haley Lyn Irwin is a Canadian ice hockey player. She was a member of the 2009–10 Hockey Canada national women's team and played for the Calgary Inferno and Montreal Stars of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) and played for the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs in the NCAA. She served as Canada's captain in a gold-medal winning effort at the 2014 4 Nations Cup in Kamloops, British Columbia.
The 2008-09 WCHA hockey season was the tenth season of WCHA women's play. Since its inception, WCHA teams have won the national championship every season. The defending NCAA champions were the WCHA's Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.
The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs women's ice hockey team plays for the University of Minnesota Duluth at the AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minnesota. The team is a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the Division I tier. The Bulldogs have won five NCAA Championships.
Saara Elisa Niemi, née Tuominen is a Finnish retired ice hockey player and current general manager and head coach of HIFK Naiset of the Naisten Liiga (NSML). At the 2006 Torino Olympics, Tuominen competed for Finland. scoring one goal and four assists. She was an alternate captain for Finland's women's ice hockey team at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver where the Finns won the bronze medal.
Mari Heini Emilia Pehkonen is a Finnish retired ice hockey player. She represented Finland in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2006 Winter Olympics and won bronze medals at the IIHF Women's World Championships in 2008 and 2009.
The Bulldogs were WCHA regular season, WCHA playoff champions, and NCAA Frozen Four champions.
The Minnesota State Mavericks women's hockey ice program represents Minnesota State University, Mankato, and participate in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Jennifer Sandra Harß is a German ice hockey goaltender and member of the German national ice hockey team, currently playing with the ECDC Memmingen teams in the German Women's Ice Hockey Bundesliga (DFEL) and the Oberliga and ESC Kempten of the Bayernliga. She represented Germany at the Olympic women's ice hockey tournaments in 2006 and 2014.

The Bulldogs attempted to win their sixth NCAA women's Frozen Four championship. The school hosted two postseason events: the 2012 NCAA Frozen Four Championship, and the 2011 WCHA's Final Face-Off, both at AMSOIL Arena. Of note, head coach Miller was chair of the Ethics Committee for US women's college hockey. In addition, she was a member of the NCAA Division 1 Championships Committee, one of only two coaches in the entire country to serve on both committees.
