As of 2010, by the reformation announced in November 2009, Division 1 and Division 2 was renamed as Nadeshiko League and Challenge League respectively. Also, the number of participating teams became 10 teams for Nadeshiko League from 8, and 12 teams for Challenge League, from 8, dividing into 2 sections of 6 teams. [1]

The Japan Women's Football League, commonly known as the Nadeshiko League, is a semi-professional women's association football league in Japan.
The 2002 Japan Football League was the fourth season of the Japan Football League, the third tier of the Japanese football league system.
The 90th Emperor's Cup (第90回天皇杯) began on 4 September 2010 and ended on 1 January 2011 with the final at National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. Gamba Osaka were the two-time defending champions, having won two previous tournaments.

The 2020 Nadeshiko League was the 32nd season of the Nadeshiko League, the main league for women's association football in Japan. It was also the 16th season in its current format.
The 2022 Empress's Cup is the 44th season of the Japanese women's football main cup competition. All the non-relegated teams from the 1st and 2nd division of the 2021 Nadeshiko League automatically qualified to the first and second round, while all 11 teams from the 2022–23 WE League earned an automatic entry to the Round of 16.
