2010 Vaisigano by-election

A by-election was held in the Vaisigano No.1 constituency in Samoa in May 2010. The by-election was precipitated by the disqualification from the Legislative Assembly of Va'ai Papu Vailupe for joining the Tautua Samoa Party, [1] and was scheduled for 14 May, [2] However, the Human Rights Protection Party did not stand a candidate, resulting in Va'ai being elected unopposed. 2011 Samoan general election

A general election was held in Samoa on 4 March 2011, in which the people elected the 49 seats of the Fono for its 15th term. Unlike most neighbouring countries in the Pacific, Samoa has established party politics. The major contesting parties were that of incumbent Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP); and the Tautua Samoa Party (TSP), a newly formed opposition party which included candidates from recently disbanded parties like the Samoa Party.

2021 Samoan general election General election held in Samoa

General elections were held in Samoa on 9 April 2021. Before the dissolution of the Legislative Assembly of Samoa on 3 March 2021, Prime Minister Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi had ordered a commission of inquiry into the absence of opposition politicians and their alleged "treasonous" acts in "misleading the public" and campaigning against the government. In March 2021, Naomi Mataʻafa, a former member of the ruling Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) and a former Deputy Prime Minister, was elected to lead the main opposition party, Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST). Tuilaepa led the HRPP into the election.
