The Niagara Purple Eagles were unable to attempt to qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history. Goaltender Jenni Bauer was named All-CHA First Team for the second consecutive season.

Offseason

On August 12, the Canadian Women's Hockey League hosted the 2010 CWHL Draft. The event was held at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto at 7:00pm. The first overall selection was former Ohio State hockey player and Olympic gold medallist Tessa Bonhomme. Former Olympic gold medallist Cheryl Pounder was Master of Ceremonies at the draft.

The Purple Eagles were the third most improved team in the NCAA. The Purple Eagles only won 6 games in 2008-09. Compared to 2009-10, the Purple Eagles won 14 games, an 8 win improvement.

The 2009–10 Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey team represented Mercyhurst College in the 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Lakers were coached by Michael Sisti. Assisting Sisti are Paul Colontino and Louis Goulet. Mike Folga was the Head Equipment Manager. The Lakers will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Women's Frozen Four for the second consecutive season. Vicki Bendus, Bailey Bram and Jesse Scanzano were all Top-10 finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Award. This marked only the third time in NCAA history that one school had three nominees in the Top 10. Bendus was honoured with the award.

The 2008–09 Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey team represented Mercyhurst College in the 2008–09 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Lakers were coached by Michael Sisti and had a 16-0 record in their conference. Assisting Sisti were Paul Colontino and Louis Goulet. Mike Folga was the Head Equipment Manager. The Lakers qualified for the Frozen Four and were finalists in the 2009 NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Championship. The Lakers went 16-0 in conference play last season en route to their seventh-straight CHA Title. From 2002 to 2009, the Lakers were 74-3-5 in the regular season against CHA competition and 14-0 in the postseason.

The 2006–07 Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey team represented Mercyhurst College in the 2006–07 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Lakers were coached by Michael Sisti and went 11-0-1 in their conference. Mercyhurst had the second-best scoring defense in Division I in 2006-2007. It would be the rookie season of Meghan Agosta. She was the first freshman ever to be in the Final 3 for the Patty Kazmaier Award. No other freshman had made it that far in voting.

2008–09 Wayne State Warriors womens ice hockey season

The 2008–09 Wayne State Warriors women's ice hockey season head coach was Jim Fetter. Assisting Fetter was Nicolette Franck and Allison Rutledge. The equipment manager was Jim Campbell while the assistant athletic trainer was Katie Lang.

The 2009–10 College Hockey America women's ice hockey season marked the continuation of the annual tradition of competitive ice hockey among College Hockey America members.

The Niagara Purple Eagles men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Niagara University. The Purple Eagles are a member of Atlantic Hockey. They play at the Dwyer Arena in Lewiston, New York.

Syracuse Orange womens ice hockey womens ice hockey team of Syracuse University

Syracuse Orange women's ice hockey is a college ice hockey program that has represented Syracuse University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and College Hockey America (CHA) since the 2008–09 season. Syracuse plays its home games at Tennity Ice Skating Pavilion in Syracuse, New York.

The Niagara Purple Eagles women's ice hockey team was a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represented Niagara University. The Purple Eagles were a member of College Hockey America. They played at the Dwyer Arena in Niagara University's campus.

The 2003–04 Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey team represented Mercyhurst College in the 2003–04 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season.

Wayne State Warriors womens ice hockey

The Wayne State Warriors women's ice hockey is a defunct college ice hockey program represented at Wayne State University. The Warriors competed at the NCAA Division I level in the Great Lakes Women's Hockey Association from 1999–2002 and in College Hockey America 2002–2011.

The Mercyhurst Lakers represented Mercyhurst College in the 2010–11 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Frozen Four was hosted by Mercyhurst College at Louis J. Tullio Arena in Erie, Pennsylvania.

The 2010–11 Syracuse Orange season was their third season. The Orange competed in the College Hockey America conference and were unable to win the NCAA Championship. The Orange were the host club for the 2011 CHA Tournament and appeared in the CHA championship game losing to Mercyhurst by a 5–4 score.

The 2010–11 Cornell Big Red women's ice hockey team will represent Cornell University in the 2010–11 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Big Red will be coached by Doug Derraugh and assisted by Dani Bilodeau and Edith Zimmering. The Big Red is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference and will attempt to win the NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Championship. The Big Red were ranked eighth nationally, had a 17–8–6 overall, and posted a 14–2–6 record in ECAC Hockey last season. All of their home games will be played at Lynah Rink.

The 2010–11 College Hockey America women's ice hockey season marked the continuation of the annual tradition of competitive ice hockey among College Hockey America members.

The 2010–11 season was not very successful for the Robert Morris Colonials women's ice hockey team, as they won 5 matches in the College Hockey America (CHA) league and lost 19. Nevertheless, new recruit Thea Imbrogno won multiple CHA awards.

Christine Bestland is a Canadian ice hockey player in the Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey program. Prior to Mercyurst, Bestland was involved with Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence.

Hillary Pattenden is an ice hockey player for the Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey program. Prior to joining Mercyhurst, she played for the Pacific Steelers in British Columbia. On December 10, 2011, Pattenden made a career high 48 saves In a 3-2 overtime victory versus Boston College. With the win, she earned the 91st victory of her NCAA career, tying former Wisconsin goaltender Jessie Vetter for the NCAA Division I record. She would break the record on December 14, 2011, in a 9-0 defeat of the Lindenwood Lady Lions. In the 2012 CWHL Draft, she would be the first ever goaltender to be selected with the first overall selection.

Kristen Richards

Kristen Richards is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. She currently plays for the Markham Thunder of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), and prior to that played NCAA Division I hockey for Niagara and Robert Morris.
