The 2011 Kogi State gubernatorial election was the 5th gubernatorial election of Kogi State, Nigeria. Held on December 3, 2011, the People's Democratic Party nominee Idris Wada won the election, defeating Abubakar Audu of the Action Congress of Nigeria. Ibrahim Idris is a Nigeria businessman who was elected Governor of Kogi State in Nigeria in April 2003, and reelected in April 2007. He is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). Idris was succeeded by his brother-in-law Captain Idris Wada, who won an election in December 2011 and took office in January 2012.

In his early career, Faleke worked in senior managerial positions with several high profile companies. He was with Aluminium Manufacturing Company of Nigeria (ALUMCO) PLC as Purchasing Manager and in early 2000, he moved his services to Crown Agents Ltd as Commercial Manager.
