Novak Djokovic defeated Mardy Fish in the final 6–2, 3–6, 6–4 to win the men's singles title at the 2011 Canadian Open. It was the 10th ATP Masters 1000 title of his career, and he became the first man to win 5 ATP Masters 1000 titles in the same year.

Novak Djokovic defeated the defending champion Rafael Nadal in a rematch of the previous year's final, 6–2, 6–4, 6–7(3–7), 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2011 US Open. It was his first US Open title, his third major of the year, and his fourth major title overall.

Luiz Mattar was the defending champion, and retained his title defeating Andrew Sznajder 6–4, 6–4, in the final.
