Vitalia Diatchenko and Irini Georgatou were the defending champions but Diatchenko decided not to participate.
Georgatou played alongside Oksana Kalashnikova, but lost in the Quarterfinals to Nina Bratchikova and Valeria Savinykh.
Unfortunately, all semifinal matches were cancelled by the supervisor, due to heavy rain and flooding. [1]

The 2011 Soweto Open was a professional tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was the third edition of the tournament which is part of the 2011 ATP Challenger Tour. It took place in Johannesburg, South Africa between 11 and 17 April 2011. All women's doubles semifinal matches had been cancelled by the supervisor, due to heavy rain and flooding.

Nina Bratchikova was the defending champion, but lost in the Quarterfinals to Kathrin Wörle.
Valeria Savinykh defeated Petra Cetkovská in the final, 6–1, 6–3.

Nicolas Mahut and Lovro Zovko were the defending champions but decided not to participate.
All semifinal matches had been cancelled by the supervisor, due to heavy rain and flooding. This event was reinstated at players request.
Michael Kohlmann and Alexander Peya won the title, defeating Andre Begemann and Matthew Ebden 6–2, 6–2 in the final.

Nina Bratchikova and Ekaterina Ivanova were the defending champions, but both chose not to participate. Valentyna Ivakhnenko and Kateryna Kozlova defeated Erika Sema and Roxane Vaisemberg in the final, 2–6, 7–5, [12–10].

This was the first edition of the tournament.

The doubles of the 2011 Ankara Cup - the first edition of the tournament - was won by Nina Bratchikova and Darija Jurak, who defeated Janette Husárová and Katalin Marosi in the final, 6–4, 6–2.

Agnieszka Radwańska defeated Maria Sharapova in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2012 Miami Open. It was her second Premier Mandatory title and first Miami Masters title. Radwańska did not drop a set during the tournament.

Stéphanie Foretz Gacon and Alexa Glatch were the defending champions, but both players chose not to participate.

Diatchenko played alongside Akgul Amanmuradova, losing in the semifinals to Paula Kania and Polina Pekhova.
They eventually won the title Anna Chakvetadze and Vesna Dolonc retired in the final after losing the first set 2–6.

2013 Brasil Tennis Cup - Doubles was the first edition of a new event on the WTA Tour. Anabel Medina Garrigues and Yaroslava Shvedova won the title, defeating Anne Keothavong and Valeria Savinykh in the final, 6–0, 6–4.

The defending champions from 2010 were Vitalia Diatchenko and Eirini Georgatou, as there was no event in 2012 and the 2011 Soweto Open – Women's doubles tournament was cancelled due to heavy rain and flooding. Neither player participated in 2013.

Maria Elena Camerin and Vera Dushevina were the defending champions, having won the event in 2012, but Dushevina chose not to participate in 2013. Camerin partnered up with Tadeja Majerič, but they lost in the first round to Elena Bogdan and Valeria Savinykh.

Shuko Aoyama and Makoto Ninomiya were the defending champions, but Aoyama chose not to participate. Ninomiya partnered Akiko Omae, and lost in the quarterfinals to Eri Hozumi and Valeria Savinykh.

Maria Marfutina and Anna Morgina were the defending champions, but Morgina chose to participate at the 2017 Korea Open instead. Marfutina partners Ekaterina Yashina, but they lost in the quarterfinals to Vera Lapko and Valeria Savinykh.

Peng Shuai was the defending champion, but withdrew before the tournament began.
